Work Placement
By Gursimar Bhambra
My wonderful work experience Cummins Meritor with in June resulted in me gaining a lot of information about my future.
All of the employees treated me with respect and made me feel like I was part of the team. All the employees cared about me and my safety at the manufacturing warehouse.
Everytime I walked into reception I was greeted with kind gestures and welcomes. In my days of being with the Quality control department, I learnt about future careers with through experienced engineers.
This experience has encouraged me to stay focused on my studies and future to achieve my personal best to follow my amazing dreams.
Activities such as organising files, inspecting and handling with crucial materials and assisting with designing buildings made me feel appreciated and gave me a sense of belonging in the work force
Trade & Fit Expo
By Taylor Marama
From my experience at the Trade & Fit Expo, I got to indulge in different types of career pathways, enabling me to get a better understanding of things I would want to do in future years. I really enjoyed seeing and learning new things from other peoples perspective because that has helped me to figure out the path I want to purse. Our favourite stall was learning about how cotton was produced and how they put so much effort in taking care of the cotton. This inspired us to be more aware and take better care of the environment.
Hearing stories from others about choosing the VM pathway and how it was the right decision for them showed me that there are many amazing things you can achieve without doing VCE.
After the expo, I realised that the VM program can be a great option. Having so many people support us and guide us toward our future goals really lifted our experience.
Victoria University TAFE Excursion by Rithiga Ganga
On the 28th of May, a few students went on an excursion to VU TAFE for a Hospitality and Tourism Workshop. Having this opportunity was great for students to explore and figure out what they want to do for year 11 and for their future career. About 23 students had a chance to visit the university and work in many workshops they provided like, Tourism, Hospitality and Cookery being the main workshops. There were many different and fun activities that helped students learn more and have some experiences which will be very useful for future job opportunities. Everyone had a very great time on the excursion, learning, enjoying and exploring with their peers and friends. Overall, the excursion was helpful and it allowed the students to meet new people, explore new places and opportunities.
