Celebrating Growth, Faith, and Community at St Andrew’s

As Term 2 draws to a close, it’s a perfect time to pause and reflect on all we’ve accomplished together. This term has been filled with moments of deep learning, community connection, spiritual growth, and joyful celebration.

Across all year levels, our students have embraced rich learning opportunities. From hands-on science investigations to creative projects and literacy achievements, the enthusiasm and engagement across classrooms have been a highlight.

We were proud to celebrate Heart Week, promoting health, wellbeing, and community partnerships. Highlights included a special visit from Jules McKernan to speak to our Preps about nutrition, and a creative contribution to Caulfield Hospital’s Heart Week display by our youngest students. A heartfelt thanks to the Heart Foundation and Cathy Enright for supporting our efforts.

Another beautiful moment in our school’s faith journey was the celebration of First Eucharist. Our Year 3/4 students, supported by their families, teachers, and parish leaders, received Jesus in the Eucharist for the first time. Their preparation was reverent and reflective, culminating in a sacred community celebration. We thank all who played a role in supporting our students on this special occasion.

We also acknowledged our Student Voice Team, who have taken the lead on making playtimes more inclusive and enjoyable. From advocating for a second soccer pitch to introducing new sports equipment, their work has made a real difference. We are incredibly grateful to the Parents & Friends Association for generously funding our new soccer goals, which have already brought great excitement and energy to our playground. A photo of the new goals, proudly presented by our PBL leaders and Sports Leaders, can be seen in this newsletter.

This term also saw our school participate in the MACS School Review—a time for reflection, affirmation, and planning. Early feedback from the reviewers highlighted our strong learning culture and welcoming, inclusive environment. Thank you to everyone—students, staff, and families—who contributed their voice and insights to this important process.

I want to take this opportunity to sincerely thank our teachers and support staff, whose dedication, creativity, and care make all of this possible. The learning, events, and experiences our students enjoy each day are a direct result of the professionalism and passion our staff bring to their work. Their efforts—both seen and unseen—are what help our school thrive.

I would also like to acknowledge the wonderful support of our families throughout the term. Whether it has been volunteering at events, assisting behind the scenes, supporting learning at home, contributing through the Parents & Friends Association, or simply encouraging your child each day—your partnership makes a real difference in the life of our school. It is this shared commitment that strengthens our community and helps each child to flourish.

As we head into a well-deserved break, I encourage everyone to rest and recharge. Term 3 will bring new opportunities and continued growth—and I look forward to all that lies ahead.

Regards

Brian Martin
