Vision for Engagement – Connecting, Belonging, and Partnering

Dear Parents,

At the heart of Melbourne Archdiocese Catholic Schools’ (MACS) Vision for Engagement is the belief that strong partnerships between schools, families, and communities are essential for every child’s success. Engagement is more than just involvement—it is about genuine connection, a deep sense of belonging, and shared responsibility for student learning and wellbeing.

At St Joseph’s, we are committed to nurturing a welcoming environment where all families feel seen, heard, and valued. We continue to strengthen our relationships with parents and carers through regular communication, opportunities for involvement in school life, and by listening to community voices.

The Vision for Engagement inspires us to walk alongside families in their child’s learning journey, creating a vibrant community built on trust, respect, and shared purpose. Together, we can ensure every student is supported to flourish in all aspects of their education and faith development.

The diagram below shows six engagement practices are employed in all MACS schools. While each is presented as having a separate focus, they are intrinsically connected and should be considered holistically wherever possible.

These engagement practices are:

• Teaching respectful behaviour

• Fostering belonging

• Focusing on attendance

• Promoting mental health and wellbeing

• Enabling motivation

• Targeting individual learning needs

By working in partnership with families and the wider community, we can create a supportive, inclusive environment where all students thrive. Together, we can build strong foundations for learning, faith, and connection.

I wish all our families a safe, restful, and enjoyable holiday. May this break be a time to relax, recharge, and enjoy special moments together. We look forward to welcoming everyone back refreshed for another great term ahead.

Kind regards

Megan Barber
