Principal's Report
Now that we are three quarters of the way through the year, I begin to wonder where the time has gone. However, when I look around the school, see the growth in our students and think about all the programs going on, I can easily see where the year has gone.
The feeling around the school is very different now and not just due to the completion of the building works. It is the growth in our students, most significantly our Prep students. The change in them from school beginners to confident school learners has been wonderful. However, it is not only the Preps, the growth in mindset and decision making in our Year 1 and Year 2 students, the maturation of our Year 3 and Year 4 students and next steps our Year 5 and Year 6 are taking towards their teenage years. Yes, it is definitely the end of Term 3.
We have reached the stage of the year where we say farewell to Orlaith Robinson. Orlaith has been a wonderful cover for Laura in 4/5A and we have thoroughly enjoyed having her as part of our community. We wish her all the very best as she transitions back to life in Ireland and the door is open for a return anytime. Ella Stephenson spent the day with the class last Monday and we warmly welcome her to Windsor.
The end of term also signalled our move back into the Hornby Street building. While the move is not completely finished, we are now operational in this building. The main office has returned and can be accessed through the large blue doors at the front of the school. Simone and I have also returned to this building along with the sick bay facilities. Lost property is now located at the foot of the stairs of the new three storey building near the student toilets.
Progress has also been made on preparing the space at The Avenue end of the school for the play space works to commence. The empty garden beds have been removed. The sandpit, garden shed and the barrier will remain until the works start. There has been no announcement on the commencement date, however the logs are not getting any younger.
This term the students have had the opportunity to participate in a variety of programs and experiences. Two of the visiting programs (chess and tennis) are looking to establish a before school program for students and further details can be found in the newsletter.
