Year 9 and 10 (2024) Subject Selections

Thank you to all families and students who took the time to discuss their subject selections for next year. I have now closed the Subject Selections Online (SSO) and have downloaded all preferences as selected by you and your student.  What happens next is that we import those selections into our timetable for 2024 and begin to create classes.

What we will find is that in some instances, we will not have enough students to run a class. For those students, they will receive their reserve preference. In other instances, some students may not receive their preferences due to classes being filled to capacity. In this circumstance, I will make contact with these students to seek a further preference

As I have mentioned before, it is not a” first in, best dressed” scenario. The leadership team will look at applicants for subjects and determine best fit.  It is envisioned that these conversations will take place early next term, and that students will have their final selections by mid term 4.

2023 PAT Testing

Each year, all students from years 7 to 10 participate in Progress Achievement Tests (PAT). PAT assessments measure what students know, understand and are capable of across domains, and help monitor progress over time. St Mary’s students participate in two domains of PAT testing: PAT Reading and PAT Mathematics. Both tests are completed online and span 40 minutes each. The Diocesan PAT testing window for all year 7-10 students occurs between Term 3, week 9 and Term 4, week 4. To best avoid student assessment, it has been decided that St Mary’s PAT testing will be conducted in Term 4, during Week 1.

The schedule is as follows:
