CURRICULUM FOCUS

This week in Writing we are continuing learning to write persuasive texts. 

VOCABULARY

Persuasive text: a piece of writing that aims to convince the reader of a certain point of view.

Convince: make a person agree or believe by arguing and/or showing evidence to support an opinion.

Argument: a set of reasons provided in support of an idea.

Debate: a formal discussion in which opposing arguments are put forward.

ACTIVITIES YOU CAN DO AT HOME TO SUPPORT YOUR CHILD'S LEARNING

This week, when your child asks you for a special treat or activity, encourage them to give you two or three arguments/ to convince you why you should allow it.
