Message from the School Deputy Principal

Mrs Erin Stone

Dear Families & Friends,

It is a pleasure to bring you the final Newsletter of the term in Kaylene's absence. Kaylene, Cath and Sue are currently enjoying some time overseas prior to commencing a Spiritus Faith Formation Program. More information can be found below about the program.

As the term draws to a close, I would like to take this opportunity to acknowledge the hard work and commitment of both our teaching staff and students at Sacred Heart. We always say that every term is busy, though this term feels like it's been a particularly busy one with many achievements and celebrations along the way. Please read below for a playground update to

I sincerely wish every family a peaceful and relaxing holiday. I hope you all find the time to reset before the final term of the school year.

HAPPY HOLIDAYS! And GO DEMONS!

Erin Stone

Deputy Principal

Footy Day

Always one of the most favourite days of the year! The school came alive in a sea of colour this morning to celebrate footy day. We enjoyed our footy parade, longest kick competition and footy based rotations at Bryan Martin Oval.

Playground Upgrade

Throughout the holiday break, we are excited to announce that works will begin on a new and improved play space in front of the Hall and Adventure Play Area.  We have engaged Steve from Made by Mobbs to re-create a space that will be inviting and engaging for our students. The space will include an improved sandpit, a yarning circle and a wobble bridge. Some of the deciduous trees which have been impacting the play space or have died, will be replaced with evergreen trees.  The works will also include a new deck around the hall with accessibility access. These works can go ahead thanks to your generous donations at the Colour Run held earlier this year. The school will also be contributing to the project.

For any families that are accessing Camp Australia Holiday program during the holidays, information will be communicated to you via Camp Australia in relation to access points for pick up and drop offs. This will include use of Steele Street and Newcastle Street gates.

Some of you may be aware that the door to the hall has been unable to be used recently. We are in the process of investigating the best way to repair the issues, which is proving to be more complex than first thought. We will keep you up to date on the resolution as soon as we know what needs to be done. Thank you for your patience on this matter.

Spiritus Faith Formation Conference

A critical aspect of leadership in a Catholic school is one of faith leadership for others in the community, reflecting Catholic discipleship, personal and professional integrity and a commitment to serving the needs of others.

During the school holiday break and early Term 4, Kaylene, Cath & Sue are engaging in the Spiritus International Faith Formation Program, in partnership with Melbourne Archdiocese Catholic Schools and Australian Catholic University. Our school leaders are seeking to further deepen their knowledge and understanding of the role of Catholic schools in a contemporary society and how schools can be centres of evangelisation for the local parish communities and staff who work in the schools. Contextualising the study in the cities of London and Rome further enhances the learning opportunities and enables participants to link theory in the historical context from which they have emerged.

Opportunities to work in collaboration with leaders and educators from school systems around the world also enables cross cultural partnerships and shared understandings, learning from one another and creating opportunities for future dialogue, sharing of ideas and problem solving in the sphere of evangelisation. Opportunities such as these also strengthen insights that our school leaders are able to share with leaders and educators,  further fulfilling their role and responsibility as faith leaders.

Trivia Night

The Sacred Heart Trivia Night is coming soon! It will be held on Friday 20th October at The Junction Hotel in Newport.  Tickets will be available early next term.
