From the (Acting) Principal

Sam Fleming, Assistant Principal

We've had a great start to Term 4 with a busy first couple of weeks back. The children have settled into their learning beautifully and we've seen no reason to make emergency phone calls, emails or messages to Natalie as she and her family enjoy the last half of their European adventure. Natalie returns Monday, and I know she'll be looking forward to it...almost as much as she enjoyed relaxing in the Spanish countryside! Until then, I continue keeping the school standing in Natalie's absence, which has been relatively easy with my amazing staff and students providing support where needed. Not only is the place standing, it's grown somewhat over the time, so I guess I can claim success!

Building Project Update:

Last Friday saw the most action on the site that I've seen in my time here. The delivery of the precast concrete walls promised to be quite the logistical challenge, however the builders report that all went smoothly and commended our school community on their flexibility with drop-offs and pick-ups to allow this. I too am grateful for your support through this time. I was on traffic duty with several staff members before and after school to ensure safe arrival and departure and was extremely pleased with how it all went. Below is a time lapse movie of the progress that I recorded on the day.

Referendum:

Our school is a designated polling station for Saturday's referendum and, as mentioned on Compass, our Community Engagement Sub-Committee are making the most of the opportunity to raise funds for the school. Thank you to those who have volunteered time at the sausage sizzle and bake sale on the day. We are still accepting volunteers and those able can do so please sign up here. I am tremendously grateful to the Community Engagement Sub-Committee for their work behind the scenes to make this happen.

Honey, we Shrunk the Kids!

Not quite, but it certainly looked like a scene from the movie when we filled our yard with our new giant yard games this week. Our goal to provide creative play solutions during our building project is certainly going well.  The trial of a split lunch timetable also continues to be a positive experiment.

Check out the photos of the children enjoying the giant jenga, giant chess, giant connect 4 and corn hole games below:

Working Bee:

The RSVP response to our upcoming working bee has been pleasing. Those that are able to come and yet to RSVP can do so here.

On the Mend:

We are happy to report that our Business Manager, Betty Horan, is recovering well from her knee surgery. We wish her well as she continues to rest at home and working her way to the end of Netflix...as she deserves!
