1st XI (Trial) T20s v St Stanislaus’ College Bathurst @ Oxford Falls #1

On Saturday 14 October Oxford Falls was at its picturesque best as the St Stanislaus’ Bathurst 1st XI and 2nd XI teams were hosted in two T20 matches. These fixtures provide the final warm up before the ISA competition begins this coming weekend. In the first game on Chaplin Oval, the 1st XI batted first and kept wickets in hand to end up with 1 for 145 after 20 overs. Openers Tom Lough (55 retired) and Toby Moran (54 not out) started cautiously and then expanded their games to record a century partnership. In the St Stanislaus’ innings a tight first 10 overs were highlighted by a penetrative spell from Flynn Mansbridge (3 for 7) and wickets to Andrew May, Darcy Aylmer, Jared Fernandes, and Lucas Glesson. The standard in the field dropped off in the second part of the innings but the visitors were restricted to 7 for 78.

The 1st XI bowled first in the second match. The level of fielding and bowling improved as wickets were shared by Andrew May, Max Lynn, Jared Fernandes, Darcy Aylmer, Lachlan Jursevic and Luke Austin. St Stanislaus’ restricted to 6 for 71. Pat Frost (23 retired) and Rohan Chang (29 retired) combined well at the top of the order to put on a half century stand before Darcy Aylmer (18 not out) hit four boundaries to secure the win in the 11th over.

SPX thanks our friends from Bathurst for making the trip over the mountains and we look forward to seeing them again this term. Many thanks for the tremendous support and hosting by the SPX parents who have set the standard high for the season ahead.

Tennis

A sunny start for NSTA Tennis

The Bureau of Meteorology forecasts a sunny 26 degrees for the start of the NSTA Summer Competition this Saturday. While the weather looks ideal, please ensure a successful start to the competition by:

  • checking the draw to see where and who you are playing against. The draw can be checked in Woodchatta, as well as, the NSTA CANVAS page;
  • arriving at least 15 mins before the start of your match;
  • checking you are correctly attired. Students must wear the blue College sports shorts, with the SPX Tennis shirt and the College (Tennis) cap.

There is a tennis meeting this Friday morning to ensure that students know exactly where they are playing and who is playing in their team for that weekend.

If you have any questions about the competition, please contact me - kkeighery@stpiusx.nsw.edu.au
