Forensic Excursion

Year 10 Science students participated in the updated Forensic program at GTAC during Weeks 2 and 3 of Term 4. The program complemented the DNA and Genetics unit that the students had studied earlier. During the excursion, students worked with scientist mentors to investigate a wildlife crime case, performed scientific analyses and collected evidence to support their investigation. Students inspected different types of evidence, such as bullet casings, twines and blood splatter. Students also used gel electrophoresis to analyse the suspects’ DNA.
