2023 Valedictory Week | Veterans' Morning Tea
This week has been full of excitement, celebrations and emotions as we bid farewell to our Year 12 Class of 2023. Students enjoyed various events to commemorate and celebrate their time at John Wollaston including the Valedictory Dinner, Veterans' Morning Tea, Chapel Service, Leavers' Fancy Dress Breakfast and the Guard of Honour. This year's Gift of a Candle Service and Valedictory and Prize Giving were special events for both students and their families.
Valedictory Dinner
The Valedictory Dinner marked the first in a series of events for our graduating class. Year 12s and their families shared a wonderful evening at Burswood on Swan. River views and a lovely atmosphere made for a very special occasion in the lead up to Valedictory Week. It was a special opportunity to reflect on their journey at John Wollaston and express their gratitude to those who have provided them with support along the way.
Principal's Lunch
The Principal's Lunch is a John Wollaston tradition that marks the beginning of Valedictory Week for our Year 12s. Ms Ford addressed the students and welcomed the Class of 2023 to enjoy lunch together.
Students were excited to receive their 2023 Leavers Book and start collecting signatures. Special mention to the Year 12 Leavers Yearbook Committee for a fantastic job. The Leavers Book looks fabulous and is a lifetime keepsake for our Class of 2023.
Veterans' Morning Tea
For some students graduating this year, their journey at John Wollaston began in Kindergarten, Pre-Primary or Year 1. To recognise their contribution to the School community, Principal Anne Ford invited these students to share their treasured memories from their time at John Wollaston over morning tea.
Valedictory Mug
The Valedictory Mug is annual netball match between Year 12s and JWACS staff. The competition is fierce and it is a highly anticipated event. This year, the Valedictory Mug was won by JWACS staff, it was so wonderful to see so many staff and students involved as either players or spectators.
Chapel
On Wednesday, Chaplain Justine led a celebratory farewell Chapel Service for the Year 12s, sending them off with a final blessing. This was followed by the presentation of their 2023 pennants and a wonderful whole-year photograph in the garden.
Gift of a Candle Service
The whole school gathered to farewell the graduating Class of 2023 at the Gift of a Candle Service. Kindergarten and Pre-Primary students presented a symbolic candle to each Year 12 student, representing a bright and hopeful future.
Valedictory and Prize Giving
Last night, Year 12s were joined by their families, JWACS Executive and staff, for the annual Valedictory and Prize Giving Ceremony. A wonderful service to recognise both academic and pastoral achievements.
Year 12 Leavers' Breakfast
The Year 12s donned some brilliant, imaginative and unique costumes for their Leavers' Breakfast this morning, celebrating their final day at John Wollaston.
Guard of Honour
A Guard of Honour was formed throughout the School with students and staff from Years 4 to 11 farewelling our Year 12s.
We would like to wish the Class of 2023 all the best in their future endeavours and thank them for the wonderful contribution they have made to the life of John Wollaston Anglican Community School.
