Year 6 Encounter |
Welcome back to Term 4. I hope you enjoyed the break and managed to spend time with family and friends.
When planning for the term ahead, the focus is very much on ‘Encounters and Events’.
Our Encounter program aims to facilitate character development, build resilience and allow for personal growth. Students enjoy the opportunity to be with peers and staff in a new environment and for many it is the highlight of their year. I know this was certainly the case for our Year 6 students who had a wonderful time at Boshack and enjoyed the benefits of being in nature and spending time with their friends.
Our Pre-Primary to Year 5 students will all enjoy the opportunity to have a big experience this term; whether that be exploring natural surroundings in Kings Park, swimming at Rottnest or enjoying canoeing and obstacle courses at Swan Valley Adventure Centre.
This year, as a result of some action taken by two children in the Wedge Tailed Eagle Class, we have an addition to the Year 4 Race Around the City Encounter. Instead of going home at the end of the day, students will participate in a sleepover at school. There is great excitement amongst the Year 4 students and staff as we plan the sleepover together.
I would like to express my gratitude to Ms Melanie Fowler, for all the work that goes into preparing and running these highly successful and enjoyable encounter experiences.
The calendar for Term 4 is busy and full; we have Orientation days, Messy Mud Days, Amazing Races and the ELC Nativity to name a few. We look forward to seeing you at these events throughout the term.
We talk about working hard, being kind and having fun in the Primary School at John Wollaston. Through our ‘Encounters and Events’ there will certainly be lots of opportunity for joy and fun in the term ahead!
