Welcome back,

I hope you all enjoyed your term break and recharged with energy for term 4.  It is our SunSmart term where we all should be wearing sunscreen and a hat to help protect our skin from harmful UV rays. Our motto is “Hats on, plays on.”

We are very lucky at RHPS because most of our play areas are under shade.  The only places that have no access if you are not wearing a hat, are the oval and the hardcourt.  However, we really want to help everyone learn good habits for life to keep ourselves safe from the sun.

We encourage everyone, no matter where they are playing, to wear a hat. We will also be giving out tokens for students wearing their hats. The tokens can be turned into house points!!! Please have a look at our partnering page to see the SunSmart program and how to support your child to do the right thing for their health and wellbeing.

SunSmart Reminder

From Monday 2nd October, 5 things to remember...

UV levels in Victoria are on the rise again so from September it will be time to grab your sun protection gear and do the SunSmart Countdown. Whenever UV levels reach 3 and above, sun protection is needed because that is when the sun can start to damage skin and eyes and lead to skin cancer.

Use a combination of the following five sun protection measures:

1. Slip on clothing that covers as much skin as possible (no singlet tops)

2. Slop on SPF30+ broad-spectrum sunscreen (remember to reapply it before going

outside)

3. Slap on a wide-brimmed hat that shades the head, face, neck and ears)

4. Seek shade

5. Slide on some wraparound sunglasses (labelled AS 1067).

Regards Teresa
