Reflection - The Cross

14th September was the Feast of the Holy Cross. The cross is the symbol for the way Jesus defeated sin, hatred and death. Christians are signed with the cross when they are baptised and also when they are buried. Christians also mark themselves with the Sign of the Cross at the beginning and end of prayer. The Sign of the Cross shows our willingness to follow Jesus and our joy at being part of his family.

Prayer

Lord, we see in this cross

a sign of your great love.

May the cross be our comfort in trouble,

our shelter in the face of danger,

our safeguard on life's journey.

We ask this through Christ our Lord.

Amen.
