Welcome to Term Four!

Welcome back to a very busy term ahead. The students have settled back into their everyday routines and are excited to see what the term has in store for them! Here are some photos of us settling in.

Mathematics

The students have been working hard to solve multiplication equations. They are all beginning to understand that the multiplication symbol is the same as 'groups of'. We have been doing lots of floor and whiteboard work to consolidate this and the students have enjoyed learning about multiplication. The students have played lots of multiplication games together and having so much fun learning new things!

The students have completed a multiplication portfolio task. We have been so pleased with the level of presentation and commitment to completing the work to an outstanding level. We don't want to give away too much (as these will be used for portfolios!!) but here are some pictures of our awesome work!

We have also begun learning about area and perimeter this week. We now understand that area is the squares we count inside of the shape and the outside of the shape is called the perimeter. We thought it was a bit tricky at first, but once we gave it a go, we realised it was actually really easy!

Library Visit

At the start of the term we visited our brand new library and borrowed some new books. The students were so excited to browse all of the new genres in the library. We then read some picture books together as a class.

A friendly reminder that the students must have a library bag in order to borrow.

Updated library sessions:

Friday- 1B

Take Home Readers

Each week, your child will be provided with one hard copy reader to read for the week. We ask that the book is read 2-3 times per week and is logged into your child’s reading diary.

If you would like to read an extra book for the week, your child may login to the MultiLit eLibrary using an electronic device. The eLibrary uses a browser-based platform, so books can be read on desktop computers or mobile devices (including smartphones and tablets). You will find the link to this website and your child’s login details at the front of their reading diary. Alternatively, your child may choose to read a ‘good fit’ book of their choice instead.

Your child’s reading diary and book needs to be brought back to school every Friday morning to be checked and swapped over by your child’s classroom teacher. We kindly ask that all books are taken care of and returned in good condition every Friday.
