Visual Art

What a fun and messy week in Visual Art! Grades three to six continued their experimenting with Stoneware Clay, learning how to use imprinting of lace and plants to create interesting effects. Lots of others continued with sculpting simple forms such as turtles or mushrooms.

Grade one and two students painted their dried salt ceramic sculptures with acrylic paint with great results. Will from Mrs. Baker’s demonstrated amazing focus to carefully paint the tiny grooves on the back of his turtle. Check out Daisy’s carefully detailed ladybird. The Prep students also painted their dried pieces using acrylic paint, although they have been exploring air dry clay. Next week we will get to take these painted items home and will switch over to using the sculpting medium we haven’t used yet (salt ceramic for Prep and air dry for ones and twos).

The determination and focus that every student has demonstrated is truly amazing. The Growth Mindset is in full force in Art this term.

Happy days!!
