Principal's Report

Dear parents,

I would like to thank Ross Luke, the local Macedon CFA captain, for coming a sharing his wisdom about preparing our properties for the bushfire season.  Ross made a presentation to several parents and residents in the JCB last Wednesday evening and I was able to follow his lead and share the school plans for different fire danger ratings.  As we approach the bushfire season, we will be sharing our plans with you all via the newsletter and social media.  I encourage you to familiarise yourself with the school’s process. There are several CFA fire preparation booklets at the front office to guide your preparations and planning this summer, please help yourself.

Gisborne Community Care Food Bank – October Donation Drive

We are encouraging families to donate food to the donation baskets at the front office to support the Gisborne Community Care Food Bank for the month of October.  Some helpful items for donations include canned baked beans and canned spaghetti, clothes washing powder or liquid, vegemite, peanut butter and jam, toiletries, jars of pasta sauces and supplies for hot drinks like tea and coffee and long-life milk.  The Food Bank already have plenty of pasta and weetbix so please avoid these if possible.

Working Bee – Saturday - 28th October 9am-11am – Hume and Mitchell House Families

The school council is committed to enhancing our community connections this year and we have re-formed our building and grounds team and will be hosting a working bee in term four.  The next working-bee will be held on Saturday the 28th of October between 9am and 11am with a morning tea provided at 11am.

We’re planning to fill the sand pits, weed and mulch garden beds, paint the front entrance fence, remove gorse from Middle Gully and remove the spider webs on the front of the school.  This will tidy up the school in readiness for the fete on the 12th of September.

We are inviting the families of children in Hume and Mitchell House to come and help us this term.

School Fete

The school fete is fast approaching. The date is the 12th of November.

Some of the activities the committee has planned are as follows:

The Pet Parade will run from 10-11am on the basketball courts on Fete day, Sunday November 12. $5 entry. 1st,  2nd and 3rd places awarded by a special guest judge.

The MPS Cake Show will be displayed in the JCB for the duration of the Fete. Baked goods can be delivered to the JCB on the Friday before the Fete (10 November), or on the morning of the Fete. $5 to enter your baked goods per category. Multiple cookies and cupcakes are considered one entry. So, for example, if your child makes/decorates 5 cookies to enter in the show, it is considered one entry and will cost $5 to enter. Winners for each of the four categories will be determined by 'People's Choice'. Vote for your favourite cookie/s, cupcake/s, 5/6 cake, and parent/friend cake by dropping a gold coin into the entrant's cup. Remember your gold coins for voting!

Any donations of cups or jars for the miniature garden Fete activity, can be dropped off at the eco shed or the front office for collection.

Donations of lemons for our homemade lemonade stall are also appreciated. Please deliver them to the front office.

Don’t forget our Plant and Produce stall. Any donations of preserves, jams, fresh fruit and vegetables, and herbs can be dropped off at the eco shed the week before the fete.

Kind regards and Sampai jumpa (until next time),
