Staff Interview - Tanya Gibbon

Interview with Tanya Gibbon Prep Teacher
What inspired you to become a primary school teacher?
I have always loved working with children.
How long have you been teaching, and what do you love most about it?
I started working at BNPS way back in 1999. My favourite part of teaching is getting to know the children in my class. They really do feel like my family by the end of the year!
What makes teaching at our school special for you?
BNPS is the best school. I feel so lucky to work with such an amazing group of teachers.
What is your favourite year level to teach and why?
Prep is my absolute favourite. It is such a special and exciting year for the children and their families too. I love that I get to be a part of their first year at school and help to make it a fun and memorable time. It is also so wonderful and rewarding to see how much my students grow and learn throughout the year.
What does a “great day” in your classroom look like?
Happy, smiling students that are having fun learning.
What is something fun or unexpected about you?
I love camping and getting away with my family in our caravan. Some of our favourite places to visit are Wilson’s Prom, Lorne and Robe.
What were you like as a primary school student?
Quiet and a little shy.
Do you have a favourite children’s book?
Harry the Dirty Dog
Coffee or tea?
Coffee
If you weren’t a teacher, what would you be?
I would love to be a Photographer.
