Grade Five / Six

Class Information

The students have continued to enjoy their first term as a Year 5,6 cohort in 2026. It was wonderful to see so many students volunteer their time for Peer Mediators recently. We have opened this opportunity up to Year 5 students this year as another opportunity to further develop their leadership skills. We are really proud of these students and look forward to seeing them support younger children on the yard.

NAPLAN

Students in Year 5 will complete NAPLAN testing during Week 7 and Week 8. Students require a set of headphones to use during this time. If your child doesn’t have a pair at school, we need them to bring a set to school. Please let your classroom teacher know if you will not be able to provide headphones.

UNIFORM

We have continued to have some issues with uniform standards. A friendly reminder that students are not permitted to mix and match uniforms (Eg- Blue formal uniform with blue sports shorts). Students also continue to wear a variety of hair tie colours. We are reminding students this week, and formal uniform notices will begin being sent home as of next week. If you need help purchasing or obtaining any item of clothing, please do come forward and we can assist with this.

DIARY EXPECTATIONS

Our expectation continues to be that students write in their diaries each evening (their nightly 30minute reading) and then bring these diaries to school for signing/ comments from their teachers. Please remind your child to do this.

HOMEWORK

Homework officially started in Week 5. We send home a weekly reading, spelling and maths task. This needs to be handed in on Friday. We will have a Monday Homework Club for anyone who needs additional time to complete their work.
