2026 NAPLAN
Year 3 and Year 5 Parents and Caregivers,
We would like to inform you the National Assessment Program – Literacy and Numeracy (NAPLAN) for students in Year 3 and Year 5 will be held from Wednesday 11th March to Tuesday 17th March.
NAPLAN tests assess student knowledge and skills in writing, reading, conventions of language (spelling, grammar and punctuation) and numeracy. The results of the tests provide information for students, parents/carers, teachers and principals and can be used to improve student achievement.
NAPLAN assessments are conducted online. The only exception is the Year 3 Writing test, which is completed on paper; all other NAPLAN tests are administered in an online format.
This delivers many benefits including:
- a ‘tailored test’ design that adapts to correct and incorrect student responses providing a more precise understanding of student achievement;
- innovative use of technology, including a more engaging test design and a wider range of item types;
an extended and more flexible test window, allowing schools greater opportunity to schedule the tests at times that suit them.
During the NAPLAN testing period, please ensure that your child gets adequate rest and arrives at school on time. We encourage all students to try their best, while reminding them that NAPLAN is only one measure of their learning progress.
If your child is absent on a scheduled test day, we will arrange a catch-up session to ensure they have the opportunity to complete any missed assessments.
Please find the NAPLAN testing schedule for all Year 3 and Year 5 students below. All assessments will be conducted in the morning, commencing at 9:20 am. Please ensure your child arrives at school on time on the scheduled days.

STUDENT LEARNING GOALS
Thank you for attending our recent Goal Setting Meetings. We are excited to begin the year by establishing personalised learning goals that reflect each child’s individual learning and development.
Our priority is to establish personalised learning goals in partnership with families. We believe that strong collaboration between home and school is key to student success, and we greatly value your engagement and support throughout this process.
You can now access your child’s beginning of year goals via PAM. These goals will be monitored throughout the year, with ongoing feedback supported by classroom evidence and observations.
Thank you and we look forward to supporting your child’s continued learning growth and achievement.
