From the Principal

Dear Parents, Families, and Members of the St Liborius Community,
Welcome to Week 6!
As a school community, we keep in our hearts all those around the world affected by war, terrorism, and violence in any form. This year, as Pope Francis announces a special Jubilee Year of St Francis, we are reminded of the timeless words of the Peace Prayer—a message our world needs now more than ever. May we continue to foster peace, understanding, and hope in all that we do.
PEACE PRAYER
Lord, make me an instrument of your peace:
where there is hatred, let me sow love;
where there is injury, pardon;
where there is doubt, faith;
where there is despair, hope;
where there is darkness, light;
where there is sadness, joy.
O Divine Master, grant that I may not so much seek
to be consoled as to console,
to be understood as to understand,
to be loved as to love.
For it is in giving that we receive,
it is in pardoning that we are pardoned,
and it is in dying that we are born to eternal life.
2027 ENROLMENTS
It is hard to believe that we are already discussing 2027 enrolments; however, the time will soon be upon us!
Our official enrolment period will run from Tuesday 21 April to Friday 22 May, with school tours and other experiences available throughout this time. Families are invited to visit our website and keep an eye on our social media pages for booking information and enrolment details. We invite you to please share our enrolment information with any families, friends or acquaintances who you feel may be interested in this information.
Catholic Education Week will also take place during this period. At St Liborius, we warmly invite both current and prospective families to join us for an evening of fun and discovery at our “Experience St Liborius” event.
SAVE THE DATE - Tuesday 30 April, 4.00–5.30pm
Current and prospective families are warmly invited to attend our Experience St Liborius evening—an exciting opportunity to step inside our vibrant learning community. Wander through our classrooms, meet our passionate educators, and take part in a variety of hands-on, interactive learning experiences that showcase the rich and dynamic education we offer.
From creative challenges to STEM explorations, and from literacy and numeracy activities to the arts and wellbeing programs, you will see firsthand how we nurture curious minds and develop confident, capable learners.
A sausage sizzle and prizes will also be part of the fun. We can’t wait to see you there!!
NAPLAN TESTING - GRADE 3 & 5
As families will be aware from earlier correspondence, students in Years 3 and 5 are currently preparing for NAPLAN 2026, which will take place from Wednesday 11 March to Monday 23 March. During this period, students will complete four assessments: Reading, Writing, Language Conventions, and Numeracy.
NAPLAN provides valuable insights into each student’s learning growth. It enables us to celebrate strengths, monitor progress, and identify any additional support or extension required so that every child continues to flourish.
We encourage all students to participate and to do their personal best. Catch-up sessions will be available for students who are absent on scheduled test days.
Later in the year, families will receive an individual NAPLAN report outlining their child’s progress and how their results align with national standards.
A reminder that students in Years 3 and 5 will require plug-in headphones for the online assessments if they do not already have a pair at school.
If you have any questions, please contact your child’s teacher. Further information is available at www.vcaa.vic.edu.au and www.nap.edu.au.
Thanks everyone and have a great week ahead,
Alannah Darmody
