Wise Words With...

Mr Graeme Jolliffe | Principal

Welcome to the New School Year

The start of a new year often reveals a diversity of perspectives. In my recent conversations with staff and students, it’s clear that everyone experiences the holidays differently. For some, the break provided a vital season of rest and rejuvenation. For others, there was a restless energy to return—a "champing at the bit" to reconnect with friends, rediscover their vocation, and step back into their daily purpose.

It has been a genuine joy to witness our campus come back to life. We have officially welcomed our new Kindergarten and Year 7 cohorts, along with many new faces across all year groups. Students are settling into their routines, and new friendships are already beginning to take root. For many, Nowra Christian School serves as a refuge—a place of consistency in a world that doesn’t always reflect our shared values.

What you are seeing in these early days is the heartbeat of our school: Community. We view community not just as a social benefit, but as a non-negotiable priority and an anchor for everything we do.

Our commitment to community is rooted in the very nature of God. The Bible teaches us that He is a relational God, existing eternally in the perfect relationship of the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. We see this relational heart in Jesus, who entered our world to reconcile us to Himself, breaking down the barrier of sin through the cross. This same spirit is manifested in the Church, where a diverse people gather for mutual encouragement, education, and worship.

Because community is so central to our mission, we look forward to intentionally building it together this year. Living and learning in such a diverse group is a beautiful challenge that requires us to put our values into practice daily; Humility, Kindness, Integrity, Respect, Perseverance and Gratitude

The year has started with great promise. I am excited to see how we will grow and mature—both as individuals and corporately as a school. My prayer is that God will richly bless our members and our school community in the months ahead.

Amen.
