A Reflection from our Year Prep and Year 6 Buddies Program
We were thrilled to kick off our first Year 6 Buddies session last week, and what a fantastic start it was! Our focus was on building positive connections and celebrating what makes each of us unique. Through a read-aloud of All People Are Beautiful by Vincent Kelly, students explored the importance of recognising and respecting similarities and differences.
Students had lots of fun sharing their favourites such as foods, colours, hobbies and interests, which sparked plenty of smiles and lively conversations. They practised taking turns, listening carefully, speaking kindly and using no put-downs as they got to know one another.
Our Year 6 leaders did an outstanding job modelling respectful communication and guiding their buddies through the Buddy Cube activity. It was wonderful to see new friendships forming and our students showing confidence, empathy and leadership from the very first session. We are looking forward to many more special moments together throughout the year!

Year 5 Leadership Program
This week, students explored what character strengths and values are and why they play an important role in shaping who we are. Through class discussions, students reflected on what makes a good friend or classmate and considered personal qualities that help people overcome challenges. They learned the difference between character strengths (the positive qualities we show through our actions) and values (the beliefs that guide our choices and decisions).
Students identified strengths and values shown in role models and people they admire, and began recognising these qualities within themselves. This learning supported students in developing greater self-awareness and understanding how their strengths and values influence their relationships and interactions with others.
Here are some of their creations showing the character strengths and values they recognise in important people in their lives!

POSITIVE BEHAVIOUR FOR LEARNING
The weekly PBL rule is drawn from our Behaviour Matrix. Each week our children focus on a whole school rule that meets our five school expectations
This week’s PBL focus is:
We are SAFE (Playtime)
We are learning to be Sun Smart, play where we can be seen, and use equipment safely.
What is the NCCD?
The Nationally Consistent Collection of Data (NCCD) is a process that all Australian schools take part in each year. Here at Corpus Christi, it helps us to identify and understand the level of support students with disability receive in their learning.
The NCCD is a way for schools to reflect on the adjustments and supports already in place to help students access and participate in education on the same basis as their peers.
Our teachers, alongside their leaders, use their professional knowledge, evidence of adjustments, and consultation with parents and carers to determine the level of support being provided. The information collected is de-identified and used by governments to ensure schools receive appropriate funding and resources to support students effectively.
Further information is available in the parent information sheet below. If you have any questions about the NCCD, please do not hesitate to contact me. Stephanie
