Principal's Update

Dear Families,

Gallery Image

As we walk this Lenten journey, let us focus on PEACE.

Even amid conflict and uncertainty, let us be peacemakers at home, in schools and in our communities.

Let us commit ourselves to accompanying others with open hearts on the path to reconciliation, recognising goodness in all of creation.

Loving God,

As we journey through Lent, open our hearts to the needs of our world.

We pray for all people living in places of conflict, fear, or hardship.

May Your peace bring comfort, safety, and hope to every community.

Inspired by Caritas Australia and Project Compassion

help us to see that small acts of love can make a big difference.

Teach us to be generous, to share what we have,

and to stand in solidarity with those who long for justice and peace.

Guide us to follow Jesus— to be peacemakers,

to speak kindly, and to choose compassion in all we do.

May our Lenten actions help build a world where every person can live with dignity, and where peace grows from our classrooms into the whole world.

We ask this in Jesus’ name. Amen.

Traffic concerns

Gallery Image

There has been several concerning traffic incidents at drop-off and pick-up that I need everybody’s help with.

  • On several occasions, children have exited the car on the right-hand side at the rainbow drop off area.

  • Some vehicles have pulled out of the rainbow drop-off zone without moving through to the front section. This creates a potential risk, particularly if a child has exited on the right-hand side, and is also hazardous to the cars driving around towards the carpark entrance when cars just pull out from the middle of the lane.

  • A few drivers have driven down the right-hand side of the grassed area (towards the carpark entrance) instead of following the designated path around the flagpole. On one occasion, an oncoming vehicle was forced to stop and reverse to allow them through.

  • We have also witnessed drivers entering the Assisi carpark via the exit, at speed on the wrong side of the road out of frustration for the long queues.

I understand these frustrations, especially when wet, but we need to ensure the safety of all. Please show the necessary patience. Thank you.

I have been fortunate to receive principal enrichment, which means that I will be able to travel to England, Ireland and Scotland to learn more about the educational Trusts and Academies that have shown considerable academic growth. I have been granted leave from April 20 to June 16 – the majority of Term 2.

In addition, Grace Scalora will be taking five weeks of personal leave from April 1, 2026.

This means we will be required to hold our Enrolment Information night this term, as well as our Principal Led Learning Tours. The dates for these are as follows:

Prepare to change over to winter uniform

The weather, over the next 9-10 weeks, can vary greatly in temperature (though it doesn’t feel like it at the moment!).  Subsequently, for the first four weeks of Term 2 students are able to wear either the summer or winter uniform.  However, all students are required to be in the Winter uniform by Monday 18 May.

Emergency Practice

We held our first whole school emergency evacuation on Friday 27 February. Our teachers were very happy with the way students responded to the emergency in such a calm and regulated manner.

We even managed to find the four children who were hidden by Mr. Freeman to test that our processes were effective!

Please note that we will hold at least one emergency practice each term. The type of practices will alternate depending on the proposed emergency scenario. The next practice will be held with no forewarning.
