Foundation
What a wonderful few weeks we have continued to have in Foundation.
A highlight would certainly be meeting both our Year 12 and Year 6 buddies. After some initial shyness, we were disappointed to find out it was soon time for our buddies to go and we were eagerly asking when we could see them again! We are hoping to spend time with our buddies each fortnight and share some exciting activities together.
Everyone is becoming more familiar with our timetable and routines for the week, it is fantastic to see lots of art smocks, sneakers and library bags on our Art, Physical Education and Library days.
Thank you to our families who have been sending morning fruit snacks in separate containers for our recess and lunch. This enables us to pop a small container or piece of fruit on our table to quickly have during our morning literacy session.
In Literacy we have been learning about syllables and rhyming words. We are continuing to practice writing our names beginning from the correct starting point, in the correct direction and using our lower-case letters.
In Numeracy we have been sharing lots of ideas about different times of the day including morning, lunch time, afternoon and nighttime. We are confidently identifying events that occur during each of these times.
It is terrific to see lots of families are sharing a book with their child each night and recording this in their home reading log. We will be keeping a tally of nights read throughout the term and year and look forward to awarding some certificates and prizes for milestones of nights read.
Last week some important information came home regarding an upcoming visit through the School Nursing Program. If you have any questions regarding this, please speak with your child’s TA.
Year 1
During Storybook Time, our Year 1 students have been reading Fung Fung’s Chinese New Year, exploring how the festival is celebrated and learning about the traditions and cultural significance behind it. To deepen their understanding, students also enjoyed a hands-on experience practising how to use chopsticks, helping them appreciate different cultural customs in a meaningful and engaging way.
Reminder
There are still a number of students without hats. Could you please check at home for your child’s school hat or arrange to purchase a new one from the College Office in accordance with our SunSmart policy. Please ensure your child’s name is clearly written or embroided on the hat to help us return it if it becomes misplaced.

Year 3 Gets Fired-up for Science!
Things are heating up in Year 3, and we’re not just talking about the weather. This week we launched into our brand-new Science topic: Heat… and what a sizzling start it has been!
Our very first lesson began with a surprise twist, with our teachers arriving dressed as mad scientists! There were wild wigs, oversized lab coats and some dramatic acting. The students were equal parts amazed and possibly slightly embarrassed for their teachers.
Over our first two lessons, we’ve been exploring how humans keep warm. We can go somewhere warm, put something warm on or eat something warm. We’ve discovered that staying warm is serious science business. We’ve also begun investigating producers of heat, and let’s just say there have been some very thoughtful discussions about the Sun, heaters and how our own bodies produce heat.
The curiosity has been bubbling, the ideas have been sparking and the excitement has definitely been contagious. We can’t wait to continue experimenting, investigating and uncovering more about the wonderful world of heat.
Stay tuned… Year 3 science is officially on fire! 🔥
The Year 4 students have been reading, writing, drawing and counting by fractions. We've been singing along to fractions songs to help us understand fraction number lines, mixed numerals and improper fractions.
As part of our Religious Education unit, we planted seeds to remind us that Lent is a time of growth. We talked about how the three Pillars of Lent - Prayer, Fasting and Almsgiving, are closely connected to Project Compassion.
