The new Mega Swing has been installed in PG 6. I have been given the thumbs up and a big smile from one of the room 25 students. I know he is happy with it.
The student leadership group were consulted on the colour of the legs and swing seats. They elected to have one soft and one hard swing seat. We have found that the hard seat does not accommodate all the students so we have ordered another soft seat.
The soft fall under the swing had to be deeper because the swings can swing higher than normal sized swing. Consequently, the finished swings are closer to the ground than normal. This will be adjusted when the new seat arrives.
How high can you fly? Can you take photos of any students who can get the swings higher than 45 degrees. The long pendulum makes swinging high harder. Here is a great Maths lesson opportunity - taking stats on the swing heights etc.
Missing: The red and cream shade sails from over the rotor in PG6 were waiting on the cement block in the staff carpark behind the old room 16 to be re-installed. Did anyone pick them up thinking they were to be thrown out? If so, could they be returned so we can get them re-installed for the summer.
Gates around the school
Magnetic lock gates have been reinstated. Could staff please let me know of any issues with gates around the school?
Swing area in PG6
A new path was installed in this area as part of the swing works. The area around it is very muddy and slippery. As a temporary measure artificial gras has been placed over the area until turf can be purchased and installed.
Can staff please use the gate from the end of PG5 to access PG6 if there are students on the swings.
Fence PG2
The fence in PG 2 beside Room 4 has been replaced. There is a now gate in the fence beside the trampoline that swing outward toward the ramp.
Air conditionerscan staff please make sure AC units are turned off in classrooms and meeting spaces at the end of the day. TURN OFF the AC units in the OT room and climbing room as you leave at the end of each session.
Facilities job requests and notifications:
Log any jobs for Maintenance on SharePoint. When logging jobs please provide the exact location of the door, window etc this will allow Jacob to repair the item even if there is no staff member in the room. Logging the item in detail will enable Jacob and I to schedule the works and ensure they are completed in a timely manner.
Big Bin
The big bin move has been deferred. DO NOT place items around the bin. If items do not fit in the bin take them back to your classroom and advise me and I will organise for it to be emptied. The bin is emptied every Wednesday morning before school commences.
Workplace inspections & reporting items
If you have a maintenance issue in your office or room these should be reported in the Maintenance log immediately. DO NOT wait until the end of term to report these issues as many need to be rectified as quickly as possible to avoid incidents.
