STEM Report

Time to finish off strong! We have made it to the business end of the year and its time to consolidate all the progress and learning students have made leading up to this moment. Term 4 is a great time to apply the skills and confidence students have gained throughout the year and put them to the test in a final round of new STEM topics. Have a look below to see what each year level will be learning about...

 

Prep: This term, Prep students will be exploring the Earth Science topic titled, My Environment, My choice. They will be learning about events in the day and how weather, location and time may affect our choices for clothing and activities.

 

Grade 1/2: Term 4 will see Grade 1/2 students exploring the Earth Science topic focused on our earth's resources. They will investigate the importance of resources such as water and identify its range of uses. Students will learn about the water cycle and use our local environments as examples when discussing where water can be found.

 

Grade 3/4: This term, Grade 3/4 students will be investigating their topic titled, The Changing Earth from the Earth Science unit of the Victorian Schools curriculum. Students will identify how landscapes change due to natural processes and study the impact human activity has had on the earth's landforms.

 

Grade 5: Term 4 will see Grade 5 students exploring the Earth Science topic titled, What a disaster! Students will identify the cause and effect of natural disasters around the world and study the impact these disasters have on human survival.

 

Grade 6: Grade 6 students will be exploring the Biological Science unit of the Victorian Schools Curriculum when they investigate the hidden world of microscopic living things. Students will focus their learning on the survival of microorganisms and discover how changes in physical conditions in an environment can affect survival.
