Rachel Burke to Shine as Guest Judge at LUX 24!
We are pleased to introduce Rachel Burke, who will be our guest judge for LUX 24.
Rachel Burke is a multidisciplinary artist, designer, and author based in Brisbane, Australia. Celebrated for her vibrant, tactile wearable art and iconic tinsel creations, Rachel's work is inspired by a love for naive craft materials, self-expression, and a passion for transforming the mundane into the magical.
Over her more than 10-year career, she has collaborated with global brands and celebrities like Disney, LEGO, Barbie, Harry Styles, Cate Blanchett and Kesha, bringing her whimsical style to life on a grand scale. Rachel’s skill in world-building and creative direction also extends to styling; freelancing as a fashion stylist for many issues of Frankie magazine and currently working as a global experiential stylist for Airbnb, activating iconic spaces around the world such as Bluey's House, Hobbiton, the Gassho World Heritage Site, and most recently, Seoul's Han River Artist in Residence space.
As a multidisciplinary artist, Rachel has brought to life everything from giant glittering shoes to theatrical runways, bedazzled swings, and immersive pom pom installations. Her work has been showcased in prestigious galleries and institutions worldwide and she is also a passionate author, with five published books and a sixth in the works. Her titles include Craft Roach (2023), Pla Pla: (2023), Be Dazzling (2018), and Fancy Long Legs (2024) which was recently adapted for the stage by La Boite theatre, with Rachel also creating the set and costume design.
