Liv McCulloch and Sarah McCulloch (Year 10)

Year 10 camp was an unforgettable adventure filled with challenges and laughter over four exhilarating days. We kicked off our journey, saying goodbye to Groups 2 and 3 and starting at the Noosa North Shore ferry, where excitement and wonder filled the air. The first day began with a 5km hike where the pretty sights and sounds of nature filled our ears. It was hard work, but our teamwork made every step enjoyable.

On day two, we started with an 8km hike that led us to the start of our canoeing adventure. We paddled across the river waters for 4kms to Noosa North Shore, where we encountered kangaroos and sea life. When arriving at our destination, we swam in the river, where some of the group found clay. The water was warm and nice, perfect! We all enjoyed the time together and the moments of laughter and long-lasting memories made.

The third day was the highlight: canoeing a challenging 12km to Harrys Hut. As we navigated through the waters surrounded by stunning scenery, we faced the hot sun head-on. Tired but exhilarated, we arrived at our destination with a sense of achievement. And where card games were brought out, connecting with everyone was one of the best things camps do for everyone. Making friends and working as a team was a great highlight!

Some other highlights from camp include meeting up with other groups along the hiking trail, where we exchanged gifts that had either been made or salvaged along the way. A moment I will not forget was in the middle of the lake, where we formed a large, crooked raft with our canoes, shared snacks, and watched as people stood up to dance and show how they had learned to paddle while standing up. Waking up early to watch the sunrise over the lake, collaborating to prepare meals, and playing in the shallow water at the beach were parts of the trip that I really enjoyed.

Finally, day four brought us to mountain biking, another 12 kms of hard work that pushed our limits. The blend of excitement and exhaustion coursing through us made the ride truly unforgettable! After all the adventures, we boarded the bus, tired but excited to see Groups 2 and 3 again with countless stories to share. Year 10 camp was a perfect blend of fun and hard work, learning about the outdoors and nature, developing our leadership skills as well as forging memories and connections with our groups that couldn't be achieved in an ordinary classroom.
