Principal's Report
Dear Parents, Guardians, and Community Members,
As we embrace the start of Term 4, I'm delighted to share with you the wonderful achievements and upcoming opportunities that await our college community.
Our Year 12 students have concluded their regular classes with memorable celebrations that truly captured the spirit of their final days at Tarneit Senior College. The traditional shirt-signing day was filled with joy and reflection, allowing students to commemorate their shared journey. The whole-cohort excursion to Funfields was a tremendous success, blessed with perfect 30-degree weather that made for an unforgettable day of fun and companionship. With their indicative exams now behind them and the structured revision period complete, our graduating class stands ready to face their VCAA exams. We look forward to celebrating their achievements at our Graduation Ceremony, which will be held at Eagle Stadium on 28th November. To our Year 12s: as you approach these final examinations, embody our college values of Innovation, Focus, and Integrity. Show innovation in your problem-solving approaches, maintain unwavering focus on your goals, and demonstrate integrity in your preparation and performance. These values have guided your journey through Tarneit Senior College and will serve you well as you complete these final assessments.
For our Year 10 and 11 students, Term 4 brings the important task of completing Semester 2 coursework. End-of-year examinations will be held during Weeks 6 and 7, and we encourage all students to prepare thoroughly for these important assessments. Our teachers are providing targeted support to ensure all students can demonstrate their best work in these final assessments. The completion of these exams will provide valuable experience in examination techniques and time management, skills that will prove essential in their future academic journey. We are also pleased to announce that our Year 10 and 11 Awards Ceremony will be held on 5th December, and will be live-streamed for parents to ensure everyone can celebrate these achievements together.
Looking ahead to 2025, our Step Up programme commencing in Week 8 marks an important transition as students begin their Unit 1 and Unit 3 programmes. This intensive period represents the official commencement of their 2025 studies and provides a valuable kick start to the academic year ahead. Students will be immersed in their new subjects and begin tackling core concepts and skills. The programme will culminate in a structured holiday homework programme, which will be crucial for students to maintain momentum and start 2025 with confidence and success. We strongly encourage all students to engage fully with both the Step Up programme and holiday homework to establish strong foundations for the year ahead.
Recently, the new Minister for Education, Ben Carroll, shared his vision for Victoria's education system through a comprehensive five-year plan for the Education State. This strategic roadmap emphasises our continued commitment to excellence in education, focusing on student wellbeing, academic achievement, and preparing students for the future workforce. The plan outlines key initiatives that will enhance learning outcomes and ensure Victorian students remain at the forefront of educational excellence. At Tarneit Senior College, we look forward to continuing to grow and find opportunities to improve student outcomes and pathways through this detailed plan.
As we progress through Term 4, several exciting events and opportunities await our college community. We continue to prioritise student wellbeing while maintaining high academic standards. Our upcoming events include various transition activities, end-of-year celebrations, and planning sessions for 2025. We encourage parents to regularly check Compass for specific dates and details of these events.
The remainder of Term 4 promises to be both busy and rewarding. Let's work together to ensure our students finish the year strongly and are well-prepared for 2025 and beyond. Thank you for your continued support of our college community.
