Mrs Holley

Welcome to Term 4

Holidays are over and here we are back at school again and it is already Term 4! Once again I find myself asking "Where has the year gone?"

Welcome to the last term in the library for 2024! I hope the holidays treated you kindly and that you were able to enjoy some time relaxing and reading one or more of the awesome books that are available to us at the moment, I certainly did!

Book Club

The first Book Club brochure for Term 4 will be sent home this week and orders will need to be submitted by Friday, 1st of November. Scholastic Book Club provides a great opportunity for parents, carers, grandparents, aunts and uncles to get in early for Christmas! So, if you would like to make a special Christmas gift order please indicate this clearly on your order form so that we are able to keep the books at school when they arrive, you will then be contacted to arrange a convenient time for collection.

Lunch Time in the Library

Did you know that the library is open every day during the second break? Do you like to draw, colour pictures, do origami, solve a jigsaw, play a board game, read a book, join our knitting club or use the STEM materials? Then come in and see what’s happening in the library. It would be great to see you there!

Library Borrowing

We are very fortunate here at St Joseph’s to have some fabulous books in our school library collection. The generosity of the Armidale Catholic Schools, together with the support shown by our school community for Book Club, has allowed our students access to new graphic novels, fiction, junior fiction and non-fiction books. I strongly encourage all students to take advantage of these books by bringing a library bag to school on their library day and taking one or more books home to read. Library book borrowing continues to occur every Thursday and Friday for all students. Please remember to bring along a library bag on your borrowing day so that borrowed books are protected during their travels between home and school. Library bags can be any bag that will protect the books - a plastic bag will suffice!  No bag = no borrow, sorry!

Reading at Home

Don't forget that your child has 24/7 access to reading material through SORA and World Book Online. Please note that your child will need their school login details to access SORA,  if they are unsure of their login details please contact the school so we are able to provide them for you.
