The Art Room was a hive of excitement at the Arts Festival on Friday. It was wonderful to witness students proudly sharing their art works with family and friends.
This year we had the privilege of two artists in action, demonstrating their masterful techniques and generously sharing their concepts and processes. Tibby Herzfeld and Hannah Jager both offered to do live painting demonstrations in the art room. This was a brave move which proved to be a huge success. Both Tibby and Hannah thoroughly enjoyed the opportunity to engage with their audience. Numerous people have also given positive feedback on what a lovely addition their presence was in the art room during the festival.
There has also been much praise for the variety of work and depth of talent on display. This year students have been bold and ambitious in their choice of materials and concepts they are exploring. Printmaking, sculpture, ceramics, textural pieces, oil pastels, oil painting, acrylics, drawing and multimedia installations were all on display.
It was fascinating to see the responses to ‘David’ tucked around the corner and listen to people ponder what dream they wanted to write down and post into the Dream Cloud installation.
Once people had taken the time to soak up all the talent they had the difficult choice of which artworks to choose as their top 3 for the People's Choice Art Award.
The artworks featured in the photos are a selection that received a high number of votes. Winners to be announced soon!
