Kindergarten

This is me, a collection of art by Kindergarten students

"This is me..." is a vibrant and thoughtful collection of self-portraits created by the 2024 Kindergarten Students. Using various mediums, such as black fine-liners, clay and watercolour paints, the children have explored their own identities and expressed their unique personalities through their artwork.

By creating these self-portraits, students have developed a deeper understanding of themselves. They have explored their own physical features, emotions and perceived identity. Throughout the collection, students have expressed themselves creatively, whilst constructing a stronger sense of identity as a student, daughter, friend and person.

Musical and Dance performances

At the Arts Festival on Friday, we saw our Kindergarten students take to the stage along side a number of students across the college, their little faces beaming with excitement and a burst of energy throughout the day in the lead up to the evening.

Kinder performed a musical performance “Rat-a-tat-tat” and a dance routine to “Whole New World”. They captivated the audience in their tutus with their graceful moves and enchanting voices.

Prep

The Prep students had a wonderful time celebrating their creative talents for the 2024 Arts Festival.  We were proud to display our artwork.  Our first piece was created using pastels to depict a sunset over kunanyi.  Our second piece was a collage inspired by Mem Fox’s wonderful book, The Magic Hat.  Mrs Kearsly guided us to collage the wizard onto our pastel and dye wash background.

We thank Ms Lincon and Ms Trost for their time helping us with our song and dance.  Our song, If You Go Into the Bush, has inspired us to look out for native Australian animals next time we go to Nature Play.  We enjoyed getting into our sparkly costumes to perform our dance item to the song, Get Up and Dance.

Year 1

Arts Festival is always a special time for our students. Year 1 took great pride in presenting their coral gardens sculptures, inspired by the work on Yayoi Kusama, and their Patterns of Australia soft pastel illustrations, inspired by Bronwyn Bancroft's amazing picture books. With great confidence, the girls sang their song about the rainforest habitat and danced to Cover Me in Sunshine by Pink, displaying their term's work in their specialist subject areas. Year 1 also enjoyed spending time looking at the hard work of other grades, choosing our favourite piece to sketch and review. Well done to everyone involved!

Year 3

Year 3 students had a fantastic time showcasing their creativity at the recent College Art Festival. Their contributions to the event were truly impressive and a testament to their artistic talents.

Two stunning artworks were displayed in the Library. The first, a mixed-media piece featuring an Australian animal, was linked to a previous HASS and Science unit. This imaginative piece captured the beauty and diversity of our native wildlife. The second artwork was a captivating mixed-media geode inspired by the current Science unit. It's intricate details and vibrant colours were a delight to behold.

In addition to their Visual Arts contributions, Year 3 students also presented a delightful musical performance. They entertained the audience with a funny song called "Possum", which told the tale of a mischievous possum falling through a bedroom ceiling. The students' enthusiasm and energy were infectious, and their performance was a highlight of the festival.

Finally, Year 3 students wowed the crowd with a fantastic dance routine. Their synchronized movements and expressive performances were a testament to their hard work and dedication. We are incredibly proud of our Year 3 students for their outstanding contributions to the College Art Festival. Their creativity, talent, and enthusiasm truly shone through.

Year 4

Year 4 students were excited to perform for family and friends at the 2024 Arts Festival. Students performed a Water Cycle Medley which they rehearsed and prepared during their Music lessons with Ms Lincoln, relating to a recent Science unit on the water cycle. Year 4 also loved performing the dance that they had learnt in Dance lessons with Ms Trost, and getting to wear the beautiful butterfly costumes was a highlight for many students.

Year 5 Navy

Year 5 White

5 White had a wonderful time in creating and rehearsing for Arts Festival 2024. We worked hard on our Dance routine with Ms Trost in our Dance lessons, and it came together beautifully in the end. Ms Lincoin led us through many challenges and obstacles with our Music piece which sounded wonderful on the night.

In the classroom Mr Lowe had us start our Frida Kahlo pieces in Term 2 hoping that we would have enough practice to make them look awesome. And awesome they were with each of our " Day of the Dead" skull artwork looking bright in colour and unique in look.

Year 6 Navy

Both Year 6 classes performed a dance to the song “Reasons” by Hulvey, Lecrae, and SVRCINA. It was really fun to learn the dance, it gave us different opportunities to try out new and different techniques and moves, which vary in our own individual comfort zones.

Both classes also did a spoken performance about women who had achieved big things. With our performance we all explained as a class the importance of everyone's achievements and what those achievements now let us do. Themed “Because of Her, We Can”,every individual read out lines either alone or with a group of two, three or four, explaining what that certain person's achievements were and how these have impacted us today. Because of these women, we as females are now able to do so much more in society.

For our Visual Arts piece, Year 6 Navy did oil pastel flower artwork inspired by Bernadette Twomey. We also did our own representation of a Black Cockatoo which was based on the book we read for our literacy lessons. Both were extremely fun and entertaining to make, although our flower artwork was our personal favorite.
