Book Week Fundraiser Thank You!

A huge thank you to everyone who participated in our Book Week celebration and supported the Book Swap event in aid of the Indigenous Literacy Foundation. We were overwhelmed by the generous donations of pre-loved books, and it was heartwarming to see so many students excitedly picking out new treasures! The enthusiasm, especially from our younger students, was infectious as they browsed through the fantastic selection.

Books that have not been rehomed will be donated to Library Aid Abroad and St. Vincent de Paul.

Our secondary students also contributed to the week's success by raising money during the "Come As You Are" themed free dress day. Their creativity and spirit made the day even more special. Thank you to our Curriculum Leaders, Megan Hatendi and Tibby Herzfeld, who organised engaging activities like scavenger hunts and created eye-catching posters to promote the fundraiser.

We are so grateful to everyone who helped make this year's Book Week a joyous celebration. Together, we proudly raised $472.90 for the Indigenous Literacy Foundation.

Sun Protection Guidelines

In accordance with the recommendation from the Cancer Council of Tasmania, the College’s sun protection measures commence from the beginning of September until the end of the school year, when UV Index levels reach 3 and above.

Daily sun protection times, which are published in the Daily News, are a forecast from the Bureau of Meteorology for the time of day that UV levels are forecast to reach three or above. At these levels, sun protection is recommended for all skin types.  www.sunsmart.com.au

Students are strongly encouraged to wear the College bucket hat or College boater which protect the face, neck and ears. If your son or daughter has misplaced or grown out of their College sunhat since it was last used in April, the Uniform Shop is open during term time on Tuesday (11.00am – 3.00pm), Wednesday (1.00pm – 5.00pm) and Thursday (1.00pm – 5.00pm).

Students are encouraged to bring to school and apply their own sunscreen. The use of broad-spectrum, water-resistant SPF 30 or higher sunscreen is encouraged whenever the UV index is predicted to be above 3.

From the beginning of Term 4, students from ELC to Year 6 must remain in the shade if they are not wearing a sun-safe hat.  Secondary students will be strongly encouraged to remain in the shade if they are not wearing a sun-safe hat.
