Library update

Nicole Wapling

There are some exciting new changes to the Library timetable for years 4 to 6 students only. (Prep to Year 3 will remain the same, visiting weekly).

Starting Term 4, our senior classes will be switching to a fortnightly Library timetable. What does this mean?  Each class will visit the Library for a full 40 minute session, every second week.

The reasons for this change are many, and based on teacher and parent feedback:

  • The Years 4 to 6 borrow limit is higher, and they read longer, more complex texts.  Visiting fortnightly will give them time to finish reading these books.
  • It will provide much more time for myself and teachers to guide students on their book choices, which has been a request by many families during Parent Teacher Conversations.
  • It will enable study time when completing projects, and help create good study habits, much like the experience they will have in secondary school.
  • It will create an even calmer, quieter Library experience, which will be of benefit to senior years, and the surrounding classes.

The new fortnightly timetable is now accessible to teachers, and they will notify you of your new, fortnightly Library day at the beginning of Term 4.

I look forward to spending more quality Library time with your children.
