Principal's Report

Principal’s Report

As another term comes to an end, it's hard to believe that Term 3 is nearly finished. The improving weather has revitalized us all.

Father's Day Stall

Sincere thanks are extended to Alison Powell and Kerryn van der Merwe for managing the successful Father's Day stall. Heartfelt gratitude is also due to the volunteers who dedicated their time to assist with the stall's operation.

The stall succeeded in raising $ 1600.00.

R U OK

Today, to honour R U OK? Day, the staff and students of B.N.P.S were invited to wear a touch of yellow. This gesture serves as a reminder to our school community that any day is the right day to ask, 'Are you OK?' and initiate a meaningful conversation when signs of struggle are noticed in someone we care about.

Scholastic Book Fair

The Scholastic Book Fair took place in the ACE space from Monday, September 9, and will conclude tomorrow, Friday, September 13. Your orders greatly support the classroom by providing books and resources for all students to enjoy.

Special thanks to Bonney for her exceptional organization of this fair.

The colouring competition is now closed, and the entries are exhibited in the main building's hallway. The winners for each year level will be announced during the final assembly, which is scheduled for Friday, 20 September at 2 PM.

Student Disco

I would like to sincerely thank our amazing team of creative parents who managed our Student Disco last Friday evening.

How lucky are our children to be able to experience a night full of ongoing surprises as a variety of artists performed for the children.  Every child I spoke to were overjoyed with excitement about every aspect of the evening.  The Year 5 end of the Senior Learning Centre was totally transformed into 'Hollywood' extravaganza.

We would like to express our gratitude to the parents for their assistance with both the setup and the dismantling of the props, blackout curtains, and the restoration of the classrooms at the end of the event. The organization of the evening was exceptional, with every detail meticulously planned.

I was also delighted with the positive feedback received regarding our children's behaviour during the evening.

District Athletics

Best of luck to our school's athletics team for the upcoming District Athletics next Tuesday. We are proud to have 71 students from Years 4, 5, and 6 representing us at the Duncan McKinnon Athletics Track.

I would like to thank Kirsty Hall for organising this event and also Arla Anderson, Jen Lee, Anna Holmes, Brooke Vincent and Nicole Grant for supporting our students on the day.

2025 Prep Transition

Yesterday, we held our second transition session for the 2025 Prep students. They participated in a series of Sport, Art, and Music lessons, providing them with a glimpse into primary school life.

I would like to extend my heartfelt thanks to Jo Ratten for her assistance with the program, especially as she came in on her day off. Additionally, my gratitude goes to Kirsty Hall and Nicole Palo La Gerche for educating our new students.

Special thanks to Rennee Tetley and Lydia Eddy for hosting a delightful morning tea to welcome the parents of our future prep students.

IB Evaluation

As part of our commitment to providing a comprehensive education, we are pleased to share an overview of the International Baccalaureate (IB) evaluation process.

IB School Evaluation: In addition to evaluating students, IB schools undergo a rigorous evaluation every five years. This process involves a comprehensive review of the school’s adherence to IB standards and practices. It ensures that our school maintains high-quality educational practices and continuous improvement. The evaluation includes self-assessment, feedback from IB professionals, and an action plan to address any areas for enhancement. This ongoing evaluation helps us ensure that we are providing the best possible educational experience for our students.

We are committed to maintaining high standards and continuously improving our practices to support our students’ success.

Term 3 has been exceptionally busy, with numerous classes engaging in incursions and excursions that have enhanced their units of inquiry.

The staff have dedicated much effort in preparation for the IB Evaluation next term. I extend my sincere gratitude to our PYP Coordinator, Naomi Holt, who has led the bi-weekly after-school professional development sessions. My thanks also go to Melissa Ball for her support in assisting Naomi throughout this process.School Captains Trip to Parliament House

On Thursday the 5th the School Captains, Xavier Attard and Ava Thompson visited Parliament House. We were invited to a year 6 youth forum which involved all the schools across the Goldstein community. We were invited by Zoe Daniel to talk about the big issues we face today. First, we headed to the train at 12:00pm where we met Mr Ross, we were so lucky to have Mr Ross and would like to thank him for taking us into the city and back. The forum started at 1:30pm and finished at 3:00pm. Our favourite part of the day was getting to meet Zoe Daniel and communicating with other like-minded children about big issues. (And getting a sneaky Oreo donut at the end thanks Mr Ross!) We had a great day in the end and if we had the opportunity to do it again we would.

School Captains - Thank You

Purple Day

We would like to thank everyone who wore purple on Purple Day to support our cause, domestic violence or family violence. We had worked really hard to make this happen and really appreciate everyone’s support. We hope in the future that more people are aware of this horrible behaviour, and we hope someday it can be stopped!

                          BNPS Student Disco

On Friday 6th of September, the school had a student disco. The preps had their own, year 1’s and 2’s was together, 3’s and 4’s, and 5’s and 6’s. On behalf of the students of BNPS we like to thank the parent committee for decorating, supervising and organising an amazing night with music, dancing and fun. They put many hours into setting up and cleaning after the students finished the disco and it wouldn’t be the same without there help. It was such a fun night and finally we would like to thank you again for organising such an awesome disco and hope to see many more discos like this one.

-from Izzy, Zoe and Heidi on behalf of the Year 6 students.

Planning for 2025

As we plan our school's structure for 2025, we kindly request that you inform the office at your earliest convenience if your child will not be returning to our school in the upcoming year.

End of Term 3

As we approach a two-week break for the students, I extend my wishes for a safe holiday to all families. I hope everyone has the opportunity to rest, enjoy time with loved ones, and return rejuvenated for an exciting Term 4.
