What’s happening in our French classrooms?

Students in Year 7, 8, 9, 10 have started preparing for our second edition of the AHS French Conversation Competition! This competition will enable students to showcase their speaking skills and win great prizes! The competition will run during weeks 5 and 6 this term. Bonne chance à tous!

Alliance Française competition winner

Congratulations to Eva Chauval for being the winner of the 2024 Alliance Française Berthe Mouchette in her year level category. Eva has recited a poem with great authenticity and flair and will be awarded her prize at the Awards Ceremony held by the Alliance Française on November 26th. Bravo Eva!

Year 12 Speaking exams

The Exam train has truly departed for the Language students as students enrolled in unit 4 French went through their VCAA Oral Examination on October 17th.  Students had to speak for 15 minutes ( 7 minutes of general conversation and 8 minutes on a cultural topic with the support of a visual) in front of a jury of two examiners. We feel proud of their achievements this year and of their ability to discuss a topic in depth with maturity and enthusiasm. Well done class of 2024!

AEFE Conference

The conference for the AEFE French directors within the Asia-Pacific zone was held in Bangkok on 14-15 October. As part of the AEFE network, Geneviève Papon, our French Binational Coordinator, attended this event. This was a fantastic opportunity to exchange with 56 colleagues from the Asia-Pacific zone and strengthen collaboration with other AEFE schools.

The French Team walked 35 km for the Mito Foundation

On Sunday, the 13th, Mme Wong-fat, Mme Boyer, and Mlle Beck participated in a 35 km walk, known as The Bloody Long Walk, on the Mornington Peninsula. They trekked from the Quarantine Station to Mont Martha Marina to raise funds for the Mito Foundation. This foundation supports mitochondrial disease research to find a cure and offers assistance to patients and their families. For more information, visit: Mito Foundation.

We are excited to announce that we plan to make this an annual event and warmly invite anyone who would like to join us in future walking events in 2025, such as the Beyond Blue Walk and The Bloody Long Walk.
