Pink for a Purpose: Supporting Share the Dignity

Senior School student, Amelia Cooper (Year 12), and the Stewardship Committee will be raising awareness and donations for Share the Dignity. On Friday 15 May, students can dress in pink (with a gold coin donation) and can purchase baked goods from a pink-themed bake sale at break times. Students wanting to contribute to the bake sale can sign up through a link on Seqta Notices.

There will also be a collection box at the Senior School Office where students and their families can donate period/feminine hygiene products.

All donations will directly support women fleeing domestic violence, in homelessness, or in extreme poverty through Share the Dignity.

Pathways Planning - Years 11 and 12, 2027

This year our Year 10 students continue to work with their teachers and course coordinators to investigate pathways opportunities for Years 11 and 12 and beyond. We have developed an extensive program to provide students with information and counselling about the IB Diploma, TCE and VET options at Friends’ and potential career paths post-school.

Key dates:

  • Week 1: Introduction to subject choice information and exploring how a pathways map can support students in their future decision making.
  • Week 2: Course pathway information from our IB, TCE and VET Co-ordinators and our two Pathway Advisors, Trish and Kim (12 and 14 May).
  • Week 3: Opportunity to hear from our Learning Leaders in Arts and Technology about pathways in Years 11 and 12
  • Week 4: Careers Expo (Monday 25 May). Students have an opportunity to hear from a range of career and industry experts.
  • Pathway Presentation from our IB, TCE and VET Co-ordinators in The Farrall Centre for parents and students (Wednesday 20 May)
  • Link to the 2027 Coursebook to be emailed to families (Thursday 21 May)
  • Week 5: Students receive subject selection information
  • Weeks 6-9: Pathway interviews for all Year 10 students. Parents are welcome to attend these interviews. Access to Faculty and individual subject videos.
  • Subject choices due Thursday 25 June.

Information has been emailed to all parents. Please get in touch if you have any questions about the process.

Japan Immersion: Host Families Urgently Needed to Welcome Our Visiting Students

Gallery Image

On 14 April, 21 students from Years 10-12, accompanied by three teachers, departed on a 16-day journey to Japan. Together, they explored Tokyo, Kyoto, Hiroshima, Miyajima, and Kochi, and had the privilege of visiting our sister schools - Tokyo Friends' School and Kochi Kokusai School.

For many students, the highlight of the trip was the homestay experience, which saw them forge meaningful, lasting bonds with local families and fellow students. These are connections that will endure long after the suitcases are unpacked.

We are also looking forward to welcoming 20 students from Kochi Kokusai School to our campus from approximately 25 July - 6 August - a wonderful opportunity to reconnect with many of the friends made on this trip. We are still looking for host families to help make this visit possible. If you are interested, please contact Lara Wojcik at lwojcik@friends.tas.edu.au

Everyone has returned a little tired - and a lot richer for the experience. What an extraordinary adventure. Well done to all involved!
