Wednesday 13th May a fun day was had by the students and staff at Athletics day. The weather was cool but sunny and the students joined in many events and dressed in their house colours. Dargo was the winning house on the day. Congratulations to all the students who participated on the day, it was a huge success!

In the Year 12 Business Management classes students have been learning about operations management. To learn about the key concepts of efficiency and effectiveness students created envelopes in pairs with a focus on quantity and quality. In Mrs Smith’s class Alex and Will won for quantity, Scarlett and Emilia won for quantity and quality and Grace and Mackenzy won for the best design. To learn about the quality management in an operations system, students in both classes created fairy bread focusing on consistency and reducing waste when they made their piece.

The students made Moroccan Lamb Hotpot.

On Tuesday 26th May, students from the Year 11 Legal Studies class visited the Morwell Magistrates Court. Students were able to hear from the Court Registrar, the Magistrate and the Bench Clerk (a former BSC student) about their roles within the court. Finally, students then viewed a case in the courtroom and heard evidence from different participants.

On Wednesday 28th May, senior students attended a guided tour of the RAAF base. The tour included information session around careers available at the base - not only ADF positions, but also other trades, services and facilities that keep the base running.

The VCE Outdoor Ed trip to Wilsons Prom wasn’t expected to be affected by wild weather, or overly familiar wombats, but sometimes the surprises can really make the trip more memorable.
The surfing itself was great fun, and all students hit the water for a full session on Thursday. After spending Thursday night in a cold, wind-swept tent, only Jacob, River, Winter, Ashlyn, Caleb and Jami had the energy for surfing on Friday. Fortunately, they were rewarded with surprisingly clean waves, and all showed improvement with their ability to get up on the board and ride the waves. Grant, Ross and Kristen also worked out it was warmer in the water than on the shore, and it was definitely worth trying to catch a wave.
Camping at Wilsons Prom in May was a real adventure. Strong winds pushed the students to really build their skills for setting up camp and cooking in challenging conditions. Tents not put up properly were at risk of blowing away in the wind. Charli and Sienna lifted the standard of cooking by creating pizzas on a public BBQ, which made anyone with pasta or rehydrated meals very jealous.
Overall, a very memorable trip, with all participants happy to be home to a warm bed in a house with a solid roof.

Our VCE VM students have been busy engaging in a range of learning experiences across all KLA areas, Numeracy, Literacy, Personal Development Skills and Work Related Skills.
Year 11 Numeracy students have been exploring the concept of area through the exciting challenge of designing and creating scale models of houses. Students have applied measurement and calculation skills while demonstrating creativity and problem-solving in their model designs.
In Literacy, Year 12 students are developing engaging “How To” guides using a range of digital tools and presentation formats. Topics have included practical everyday skills such as how to make pizza dough, with students focusing on clear communication, digital design, and audience engagement.
Meanwhile, our Year 11 students are also preparing a Careers Expo for Year 10 students. The expo will showcase their VET subjects and future career aspirations, helping younger students learn more about pathway options and support informed course selection later this term.
It has been wonderful to see students building real-world skills through collaborative, practical, and student-led learning experiences.

A great night was had by all on Wednesday 27th May at Boucher Hall. Year 11 and 12 VCE Drama students performed 4 plays in total, conceptualised and written from start to finish, including styles, blocking, scripts, lighting and soundtracks, all inspired by the prompt 'A Heroes Journey'. There was a lot of talent on display - well done everyone!
