In this Year 8 Mathematics task, Nina demonstrates excellent mathematical reasoning by discovering that the area of a triangle is exactly half the area of a rectangle. By carefully drawing a triangle inside a rectangle and comparing the triangle to the remaining space, she recognised that the two areas were equal. This thoughtful approach highlights the power of inquiry, reasoning, and problem-solving in developing a deeper understanding of mathematics. Well done, Nina!

As part of Reconciliation Week, our Year 8 students came together to create a meaningful display celebrating culture, learning and connection. Students worked collaboratively to design and build a visual piece centred around Eucalyptus, incorporating natural materials, artwork and Indigenous-inspired elements.
This hands-on project encouraged students to learn, reflect and engage in conversations about culture and the significance of Reconciliation Week, while showcasing their creativity and teamwork. The finished display is a wonderful representation of students learning together and honouring the importance of reconciliation.

Benny put his cooking skills to work in the kitchen, preparing delicious beef tacos from scratch. From carefully preparing the ingredients to assembling the finished tacos, Benny showed great enthusiasm and confidence throughout the cooking session. The activity was a fantastic opportunity to build practical cooking skills, encourage independence, and enjoy some tasty creations along the way!

The students made a Korean-style Beef Bowl.

Over the past couple of weeks, Year 8 students have been investigating how different systems function within the human body. Students dissected a heart to explore the structure and function of the circulatory system and examined fish gills to compare aquatic and human respiratory systems, including observing how lungs inflate and deflate. Finally, students investigated chemical digestion through a “Gums to Bums” practical activity, modelling how different enzymes break down food throughout the digestive system.
