Environment, Facilities and Grounds

Safe and Well Operations Leader
Mary Boutros
Jacana School for Autism has continued to focus on maintaining and improving our learning environments to support the safety, wellbeing and engagement of all students and staff.
Our school has also continued to prioritise regular maintenance and safety checks across the site.
This term, we will be undertaking an array of inspections and audits during our upcoming Curriculum Day on 29 May. This will include inspections of gates, fencing, playground equipment, shade structures, classroom facilities and essential safety systems. These proactive measures help ensure our learning environments remain safe, compliant and well maintained for all members of our school community.
In addition, we have been actively addressing environmental and maintenance matters across the school grounds, including the treatment and monitoring of mushroom growth in mulch areas to support student safety.
We are also pleased to advise that another sanitary pad and tampon dispenser will be installed next week in one of our student wellbeing spaces (Living Skills Space) to further support accessibility, dignity and student wellbeing.
We thank our staff and maintenance personnel for their ongoing diligence and support in helping maintain a safe, inclusive and welcoming school environment.
