General Achievement Test

As our VCE students prepare for the upcoming General Achievement Test (GAT), we encourage all students undertaking a scored VCE Unit 3–4 subject, VCE VM scored assessment, or VCE VET scored program to approach the day seriously and with confidence. The GAT is an important part of the VCE assessment process and helps the Victorian Curriculum and Assessment Authority ensure that student results are accurate and fair.

The GAT assesses a student’s general knowledge and skills in areas such as written communication, mathematics, science, technology, humanities, and the arts. It is not a test that students can “study” for in the traditional sense; rather, it reflects the knowledge and skills developed throughout their years of schooling. Importantly, the GAT can be used in the calculation and quality assurance of study scores, particularly if a student is affected by illness, misadventure, or disrupted assessment circumstances.

Students are encouraged to be well rested, arrive on time with the required materials, and give their best effort in every section. We wish all students every success as they undertake this important component of their VCE journey.

The 2026 VCE General Achievement Test (GAT) will take place on Tuesday, 16 June 2026
