I am not sure what is going on with the weather, but this week I had to revert to wearing a jacket, given how cool the days were — a first-world problem, I know.

Fodder conservation started, then stopped, then started again. Fortunately, bale silage is more forgiving of additional moisture. Given the low rainfall over winter and reduced runoff into dams, Harvey Water has limited irrigators’ allocations to 50% for the upcoming irrigation season. Fortunately, we purchased additional water last year, so our regular program will not be impacted. However, we are not able to proceed with developing some additional irrigated areas we had been looking forward to.

2026 Student Intentions

Typically, each year we lose several current Year 11 students to apprenticeships or changes in circumstances. If your son or daughter has secured an apprenticeship, please let us know so that we can offer a place to a new student from our waitlist.

Brunswick Show

This weekend, our Cattle Club students will be competing at the Brunswick Agricultural Show with the dairy heifers they have been training under the expert eye of Kylie Quilty. If you are in the area on Saturday, 26 October, you may wish to drop by the show to support our students.

Dinninup Show

All Year 10 students will attend the Dinninup Agricultural Show on 4 November, where they will take part in several judging events. The Dinninup Show is a qualifier for the state finals at next year’s Perth Royal Show, offering students a great opportunity to progress through the competition rounds.

Transition Program

Our Transition Program starts on Sunday, 23 November, and we look forward to welcoming our new Year 10 and 11 students, along with their families. The purpose of the program is to support students and their families in managing the transition to the new College environment and boarding life. Parent survey responses have consistently been very positive about their experience.

Have a great weekend.
