School Wide Teaching and Learning

In each edition of our school newsletter, we share with our community an insight into the curriculum being taught within our classrooms. This reflects our school's strong focus upon continuous improvement.

Each edition covers a different area of the curriculum, and is supported by our school-wide approaches to teaching and learning.

A big congratulations to the students who entered the ICAS Assessments at our school. As previously stated, all results are available online via the portal that you signed your child/ren up with.

In our next assembly, all students who participated in ICAS will receive their certificates and acknowledgement of their effort throughout the assessments. Please note that individual results will not be called out during assembly. Students will receive their collection of certificates in a plastic pocket.

We are very lucky at Upwey South Primary School to have such enthusiastic and dedicated teachers who offer enrichment activities. Some of these activities include:

  • Robotics
  • Choir
  • Aerobics
  • Sport competitions
  • VSSS
  • VHA

Within and outside of the classroom, there are also opportunities for students to be enriched.

Some opportunities to enrol your child/ren in activities outside of school are detailed below.

Victorian Challenge and Enrichment Series

Victorian Challenge and Enrichment Series activities are designed to engage, extend and challenge advanced learners and provide opportunities for interaction and collaboration with like-minded peers. For activities delivered out of school hours (including school holidays), parents/guardians can directly register their children for participation.

I highly encourage parents to discuss these opportunities with their child/ren if they are looking for a challenge outside of the classroom. Please note that some of these activities are online, whilst others are in person at external venues.

The below activities can be found at the following link: https://arc.educationapps.vic.gov.au/channels/VCES?applyFilter=Primary&applyFilter=Free&applyFilter=Paid&applyFilter=In%20Person&applyFilter=Online
