Have you seen our newest permanent artwork? After two years in the making, our school mural is finally complete! Originally begun by the 2024 Art Captains, the project has steadily taken shape, with this year’s Art Captains—and a few enthusiastic helpers—adding the final touches. It has been wonderful to watch the artwork grow over time and to see students’ creativity, teamwork and pride reflected in every section. We invite you to come and take a look at this vibrant new installation on the wall beside the Quiet Area.

Over the past few weeks, Foundation students have been busy as “star-maker apprentices,” designing and decorating stars that are wonderfully and spectacularly unique. Each child experimented with ribbons, buttons and a mix of colourful materials to bring their own creative ideas to life. Students also took time to reflect on their year in Visual Arts, sharing favourite projects and recognising the skills they’ve developed along the way. It has been amazing to see just how far they’ve come—growing in confidence with drawing, painting, cutting and making thoughtful artistic choices to personalise their work.

Over the last few weeks, Year One and Two students have been immersed in a magical construction project, designing and building their own fairy or gnome houses. Using tubes, coloured papers and a variety of clay elements, they created imaginative walls, textured surfaces and tiny decorative details. Each student sculpted a clay door to suit their design, thinking carefully about shape, texture and how their creature might enter its home. The creativity and problem-solving on display have been fantastic, with students experimenting, adjusting ideas and proudly bringing their miniature worlds to life.

Year Three and Four students wrapped up their graffiti art unit by assembling miniature fences to showcase their vibrant designs. Each student created their name in a personalised graffiti style, experimenting with colour blending and bold lettering to make it stand out. Their ice-cream artworks were then shrunk using the photocopier and added to the fence as playful street-art features. To complete the scene, students embellished their displays with miniature plants, flowers and stones, creating dynamic, character-filled graffiti installations they were proud to share.

Year Five and Six students have spent the past few weeks adding the final touches to their abstract sculptures, each one truly unique. Drawing inspiration from a famous artwork of their choice, students used colour, pattern and texture to personalise their sculpture and make thoughtful creative decisions. They then reflected on their artistic process, learning to write about their chosen influence and the reasons behind their design choices. These impressive sculptures are now being prepared for display in our upcoming art show, where their individuality and creativity will really shine.
