PE Term Four Overviews
| Prep | The Prep students will focus on building confidence and enjoyment through active play and movement. They will participate in a range of modified games, including tag games and relays, designed to develop locomotor skills, spatial awareness and the ability to follow simple rules. Emphasis will be placed on participation, cooperation and celebrating effort. Focus Areas:

| Grade 1 | The students will further develop their object control skills (throwing, catching, striking, kicking) through modified versions of soccer and cricket. The focus will be on teamwork, cooperation and applying skills in fun, inclusive games. The students will also learn to follow rules and understand how to work together effectively. Focus Areas:

| Grade 2 | This term, the students will continue to refine their object control skills through modified soccer and cricket activities, focusing on teamwork and cooperation. They will also participate in a Rugby League skills program, run by a Sporting Schools coach, introducing safe gameplay, tagging and passing skills. Focus Areas:

| Grade 3 | The students will develop greater control and consistency in movement skills through a Cricket unit (batting, bowling, fielding) and a Rugby League program delivered by a Sporting Schools coach. They will work on teamwork, communication and game understanding through small-sided games and skill challenges. Focus Areas:

| Grade 4 | The students will focus on developing their cricket skills; batting, bowling, fielding and teamwork through modified games and skill drills. They will also explore the concepts of fair play, resilience and constructive communication, reflecting on how attitude and teamwork contribute to success and enjoyment in sport. Focus Areas:

| Grade 5 | The students will complete a Cricket unit, focusing on the development and application of fielding, batting and bowling techniques. They will also explore game strategy, teamwork and sportsmanship through small-sided and full-format games, applying rules and tactics in gameplay situations. Focus Areas:

| Grade 6 | The students will participate in a Cricket unit focusing on fielding, batting, bowling and game play. They will apply advanced skills in modified and competitive games, demonstrating leadership, communication and tactical understanding. Although there is no Interschool sport this term, emphasis will be placed on team cohesion, effort and preparing for transition to secondary school sport. Focus Areas:

ISS FINALS
For context when reading these cricket scores, every time a team loses a wicket, the opposing team receives 5 runs to their total.
Cricket Boys: In the semi-final against Viewbank, The SMOT boys made a total of 53 runs and lost 5 wickets. Unfortunately, we lost the match, as Viewbank made a total of 64 runs and lost 4 wickets. It was a fantastic season from the boys and they should be proud of how they performed all season. Well done to you all!
Cricket Girls: SMOT girls in the semi-final against Viewbank made a total of 65 runs and lost 3 wickets. They were victorious over Viewbank, who made 55 runs and lost 4 wickets.
This final was set up to be a great game between 1st and 2nd on the ladder. Heidelberg Primary School (HPS) who hadn’t lost a game all year, against a gallant St Martin's outfit.
HPS got off to a flyer, smashing 42 runs off their first 4 overs, finishing their innings with 85 runs made and 2 wickets lost. SMOT girls knew they had a lot of ground to make up, but were up for the challenge. Starting a bit slower than their counterparts, they only found themselves with 21 runs after their first 4 overs. The final 4 overs saw the girls put on an historic performance and make 51 runs. It came down to the last ball of the innings and the girls needed 2 runs to draw and 3 runs to win. Despite making connection with the ball, unfortunately we weren’t able to score any runs, making the last play of the day the most crucial of them all. The girls didn’t lose any wickets for the game. They can certainly keep their heads high with their grand final performance and the growth they showed all season.
Soccer Boys: A close game in the semi final against Rosanna Golf Links. With a 1-1 scoreline at the end of full time, this meant the game was going to be decided by a penalty shoot out. Fortunately for the SMOT boys they were able to win the penalty shoot out 3-2 against a strong opposition.
This set up for a strong grand final performance. Another game where it was 1st against 2nd on the ladder. Banyule Primary School (BPS) undefeated all season looking to put in another strong performance. Our SMOT boys were looking for redemption after losing in the home and away season. In what was a great performance for the SMOT boys, they were able to come away with the victory, winning 4-2. Well done boys on a great season.
Soccer Girls: Another close game in the semi final against BPS, with the SMOT girls narrowly winning, with the scoreboard 1-0 at the end of full time.
In the GF, the SMOT girls came up against an opposition who they haven’t played during the home and away season due to a wash out. We knew heading into the game that it would be a tough match, and indeed it was. The girls played strongly all game, unfortunately conceding one goal in the first half wasn’t ideal. The girls fought hard for the rest of the game, but weren’t able to find the back of the net on any of their attempts. Thus resulting in a 0-1 loss. The girls can be proud of how well they played all season and the growth they’ve shown. Well done girls on a great season.
Tennis Hotshots Boys: With one of the higher ranked players out from the start of the day, this meant that all players were going to need to step up their game. And step up they did! Coming up against an undefeated Heidelberg Primary School (HPS), the boys knew they were going to be challenged. The boys put on a brave performance, being neck and neck all day, but unfortunately falling short by one game with the end result 7-8 in favour of HPS. The boys can hold their heads high that their performance was good enough to match it with the best. Well done on a great season boys.
Tennis Hotshots Girls: It was a tight ladder in the girls competition and it came down to the last round of the home and away season for the results to be finalised. With a strong win in the last round, the girls eagerly awaited the results of other games. Unfortunately for the girls they didn’t make finals this season, missing out by only one win. There has been so much growth and improvement from this group of girls this season, and they should be proud of how they played.
State Athletics
We can't wait to hear how Zoe (100m & 200m) and her fellow relay teammates, Allegra, Kayleigh and Annalise (4 X 100m) ran at the State Athletic Championships which were held TODAY at the Lakeside Stadium in Albert Park.
Basketball
Next Monday, our teams head to Diamond Valley Sports Centre to play in the Hooptime Regional Finals. Both our Senior Girls and Boys Teams are in this event, so we wish them well and look forward to hearing the results next week.
