SLA

In SLA, we have been learning about using various language features/strategies to create advertisements.  We explored the use of Persuasive Language, Advertising Strategies, branding, fonts, colour, angles and other factors that influence consumers.

Here are 3 Advertisements created by SLA3 students and their reflection.

KFD by Cedric & Xavier:  In Literacy we have been learning about advertising.  We had to make and Ad.   about something of our choice.   We decided to make a poster for a “rip off” of KFC.  We called our product Kentucky Fried Duck and our slogan is Toe Licking Good.  We are proud of what we have created, and it was a lot of fun to make.  It was pretty funny too!

IG Deluxe Burger by Isaac & George: This term, we have been looking into advertising and what makes a good advertisement.  Our group created an Ad for a burger company called IG Deluxe burger.  We really enjoyed creating these fun posters and being creative with our ideas.

Cal’s Pogo Stick by Celeste, Alanah and Lilly: This term we have been learning about all the features of an Advertisement and how to create an advertisement.  We had to use different strategies to make our poster interesting, exciting and colourful.  This task was fun because we got to use our imagination and the new skills we learnt.

The students have also been immersed in poetry. They have learnt about different styles of this narrative that include limericks and cinquains. The students also learned about a movement of poets who were called the “Romantics”. They learnt that these artists created poetry that was inspired by the beauty of nature, which was their inspiration. Students had to use their learnings and create a poem of their own, inspired by nature. Creativity was key! Here are but a few samples. Enjoy!

Alessio:  Writing can be difficult, and I found poetry is very “fancy” for me. It wasn’t my cup of tea, but I thought this poem I created about the moon was okay.

Antonio: In poetry it doesn’t matter what feelings you have, let your heart write through your emotions and it will make a wonderful piece of art.

Billie: Poetry stretched my creativity and expanded my vocabulary. My poem was about Mt Tambourine and when we went there with my family.
