Hay Season Continues

There has been a lot happening on the farm this week. With the warmer and drier weather arriving, it has been (and still is) a rush to get paddocks cut for hay. Along with hay cutting, we also have other operations underway, including raking, tethering, baling, and shifting bales. The students have had the opportunity to operate the machines and see how the process works.

Horticulture

Exciting things are happening at our Horticulture Hub, with work beginning this week to redo the irrigation system. If all goes to plan, the project is expected to take around seven weeks to complete. Matt Olde and Shaun Lawrence have been hard at work preparing the ground and getting the beds ready for a variety of crops, including pumpkins, watermelons, broccoli, cauliflower, chillies, tomatoes, and asparagus.

Beef Judging

On Wednesday, we hosted students and staff from Narrogin Ag for a joint learning day focused on beef cattle judging, handling and showing.  It was a great opportunity for both schools to share knowledge and skills.

A big thanks to Jarvis Polglase, Zoetis area representative, for joining us and sharing his expertise with the students.

After School Riding

Afternoon horse-riding sessions are going really well, with the relevant students and staff enjoying the afternoons. Students are also regularly practising their camp drafting skills.
