Graduation & Prize Day

Last week’s Year 12 Graduation and Prize Ceremony was a wonderful occasion to share with family and friends. It marked the culmination of our Year 12 students’ schooling and the beginning of the next chapter in their lives. It is impressive to see that the vast majority of graduates have already secured employment or further study pathways. My congratulations go to all graduates and to the prize winners across all year groups.

My thanks to the team of staff from across the College who organised and facilitated the ceremony and the meal that followed; everything ran exceptionally well and was warmly received by all.

My thanks and congratulations also go to our Year 11 Councillors, who acted as Masters of Ceremony, and congratulations to Kate Power, who has been elected as College Captain for 2026.

Honouring Remembrance Day

On Tuesday, our student councillors attended the Remembrance Day service in Harvey, where they respectfully laid a wreath to honour those who have served and sacrificed for our country.

For the students and staff who remained at the College, a commemorative service was held on campus, providing everyone with the opportunity to reflect and pay their respects.

Social Media Bans

Families would no doubt be aware of the bans placed on under-16s accessing certain social media platforms. At this stage, these include Facebook, Instagram, Kick, Reddit, Snapchat, Threads, TikTok, X (Twitter), and YouTube, though this list will likely change over time.

The responsibility lies with social media companies to establish strategies that prevent under-16s from accessing their sites. This is not something College staff will be expected to police.

The eSafety Commission has developed a range of information and resources to support young people, as well as parents and carers, in understanding social media age restrictions.

Year 11 Parent Survey

A reminder to our Year 11 families to access the survey link emailed earlier this week. Your feedback is important and helps us continue to improve the College.

Planning for 2026

At this stage of the year, we are establishing budgets, staffing structures, and the timetable for next year. It is common for some students not to return because they have secured an apprenticeship. Your child’s place at the College is not at risk; however, it would greatly assist our planning if we could anticipate any students who may not be returning in 2026.

Have a great weekend.
