Foundation

Welcome to more STEM action occurring in the Foundation area. Students have been  busy solving problems, finding solutions, collaborating and working together to achieve success. This week they had to ensure that their structure was strong enough to hold a piece of A4 paper. Now they will continue to design BBC in collaboration with our Year 1 neighbours.

Playground Sport Opportunities

A big thank you to Veer Singh (our resident Virat Kohli!) who gives up his time each week to help the younger students at our school try new sports. Today at morning break a bunch of Foundation students learned about cricket and they all had a turn at batting, bowling and fielding. Thanks also to James for organising this. Our kids also look forward to each Tuesday and Thursday for their scheduled game of soccer. Thanks always to Roman, Callix, Mason, Mohammad and Ali for giving up their time and helping the little ones.

The year 1s are creating their own village/city in our shared space. They brainstormed all their ideas with Marty and now they are creating it using lego. They will use these when they are programing the BeeBOTS! Stay tuned!

Italian – Grade 1

Our Grade 1 students have been having a wonderful time singing and dancing to Italian songs in class! Through music, they are learning new vocabulary and common Italian phrases in a fun and engaging way. Singing along with Mr Oopy and Nadia Cavallo has made learning Italian both enjoyable and educational. The students especially love joining in with the actions and catchy tunes that help them remember the words and meanings.

Year 2/3

Hi Families,

This week we have had a wonderful week of learning. Some year 3 children celebrated the Sacrament of Reconciliation on Tuesday night and it was a special and intimate ceremony that they should be proud to have taken part of. Other learning during the week included Bee-bots being coded to follow a track and creating a dance. The children seemed to be enjoying the unit a great deal. Have a wonderful weekend!

Year 3/4

Wow! Another busy week of learning in the Year 3/4 classroom.

In Maths we have been exploring Three Dimensional (3D) Objects. The students used unifix blocks to make 3D objects of different lengths, widths and depths. They have also used different 3D objects to create different objects such as towers and castles.

In inquiry the students have been learning to code the Bee-Bots. They created a maze using books and needed to code the Bee-bot to get through the maze. There were a few crashes and mazes broken, with students learning how to identify right turns and left turns. Students had a lot of fun and are looking forward to more lessons using the Bee-bots.

On Tuesday night, Martin, Tazlyn, Jazlyn, Leo, Ava, Sharlotte, Victoria, Hanny, Jessica and Billie made their Reconciliation. It was a lovely reverent ceremony. Congratualations on making your second sacrament!

And last but not least, was our assembly on Thursday. Students were able to share what they had been learning and we were also treated to a wonderful performance by Riyon, playing on the keyboard. Well done Riyon it was fantastic to hear you play.

Year 4/5

Grade 4/5 Italian

Our Grade 4/5 students have been busy exploring Italia! They’ve had so much fun learning about Italian landmarks, festivals, traditions, and everyday life. Watching videos of Italy’s beautiful cities and famous places has made everyone want to pack their bags and visit! The students especially loved learning about Italian food — their mouths were watering as they discovered all the tasty dishes from pizza to gelato! Learning about another country’s culture and way of life has opened their eyes to the amazing world beyond our classroom.

Year 5/6

On Friday 7th of November the grade 6 students went to the Melbourne Museum to be apart of the 'Road to Zero' program. This great initiative educates students on the importance of being safe on the roads, and ways in which we as individuals/community can strive to achieve no road deaths by 2050.

Students had the opportunity to create their own road safety ad in teams, engage with a wide range of interactive activities that aimed to develop their understanding of road safety, and have informative conversations about the topic with the presenters.

An added bonus were the very cute dogs that stopped by for a pat while having our break!

What a great day!!
